How to get help from a Digital Support Volunteer
The following libraries offer Digital Support Volunteer sessions:
- Ash Library: every Thursday from 10am until 12 noon. Please book at the library or email ash.library@surreycc.gov.uk.
- Ashford Library: every Tuesday from 2pm to 4pm, every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm and every Saturday from 10am to 12pm. Sessions are for 30 minutes and must be booked in advance. Please book a session by speaking to a member of staff at Ashford library or email ashford.library@surreycc.gov.uk
- Ashtead Library: every Friday from 2pm until 4pm. Booking necessary: please book a one hour slot at Ashtead library.
- Banstead Library: Usually held on Wednesdays at 1pm and 2pm, please book an appointment in Banstead library.
- Bookham Library: every Tuesday from 10am. Booking is required. Please book at the library desk.
- Camberley Library: every Wednesday from 9.30am until 10.30am, every Thursday from 2pm until 4pm. Booking is required. Please book in the library, by emailing camberley.library@surreycc.gov.uk or telephone 03456 009 009 and press option 6 and ask to be put through to the library.
- Caterham Hill Library: every Saturday from 2pm to 4pm. Please book an appointment in advance at Caterham Hill Library or email caterhamhill.library@surreycc.gov.uk
- Caterham Valley Library: Digital Buddy sessions are available by advanced booking on weekdays Tuesday to Friday. Please book at Caterham Valley Library or by email caterhamvalley.library@surreycc.gov.uk
- Cobham Library: every Tuesday from 10am to 12pm. No booking required.
- Cranleigh Library: Every Thursday from 2pm to 4pm and the first Saturday of the month from 2pm to 4pm. Booking necessary. Please book in the library at the enquiry desk or by emailing cranleigh.library@surreycc.gov.uk
- Dittons Library: every Tuesday from 10am until 12pm. Booking is not required but to avoid disappointment booking is recommended. To book, please ask a member of staff in Dittons library or email: dittons.library@surreycc.gov.uk
- Dorking Library: every Tuesday from 10am until 11am, and every Thursday and Friday from 4pm until 5pm. Appointment only. Please book an appointment at the desk in Dorking library.
- Egham Library: every Thursday from 10am to 12pm. Drop in session, however slots can be booked in advance if needed. Please speak to member of library staff for more details.
- Epsom Library: every Wednesday from 12 noon to 2pm. Please email: epsom.library@surreycc.gov.uk to book a session or speak to a member of staff at Epsom library.
- Esher Library: every Tuesday from 1pm to 3pm. Appointment only. Please book a place by speaking to a member of staff at Esher library or email esher.library@surreycc.gov.uk
- Farnham Library: every Monday from 2pm to 4pm (drop in during this time but appointments are recommended if you have something specific you need help with). Every Thursday from 10am until 12 noon (Appointments only). Please come into the library and book an appointment at the helpdesk.
- Godalming Library: free, one-to-one, 45 minute computer help sessions. Appointments are available on: Mondays at 10am, 10.45am and 11.30am and Fridays at 2pm, 2.45pm and 3.30pm. For further details and to book a session, please ask a member of staff in the library.
- Guildford Library: every Monday from 2pm until 4pm, every Tuesday from 11.30am to 2.30pm (by appointment only), every Wednesday from 10am to 11am and 1pm until 3pm (by appointment only), every Thursday from 5pm to 6pm, every Friday from 2pm to 4pm and every Saturday from 11am to 12 noon. Appointment only sessions must be booked in advance by emailing guildford.library@surreycc.gov.uk or in person at the library.
- Haslemere library: Every Tuesday from 10am until 12 noon. Booking necessary: to book in advance please speak to a member of staff at the enquiry desk or by emailing haslemere.library@surreycc.gov.uk
- Hersham Library: Every Tuesday, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Sessions last half an hour. Please book a place at the Helpdesk.
- Horley Library: Wednesdays from 10am to 12 noon (term time only). Alternate Fridays from 2.30pm until 4.30pm. Appointment slots can be booked at the library desk.
- Horsley Library: every Thursday from 2pm until 4pm. Sessions must be booked in advance by emailing horsley.library@surreycc.gov.uk or in person at the library.
- Leatherhead Library: every Tuesday from 3.15pm to 5pm. Please book in person at Leatherhead Library or by emailing leatherhead.library@surreycc.gov.uk.
- Lightwater library: from Wednesday 30 July to Wednesday 13 September. 30 minute time slots from 11am to 12.30pm. Please book in person at Lightwater Library or by emailing lightwater.library@surreycc.gov.uk
- Merstham Library: Every Wednesday from 10am to 12 noon. Book your space at the help desk or email merstham.library@surreycc.gov.uk
- Molesey library: Every Tuesday from 10am until 12 noon. Please book at the library, by email molesey.library@surreycc.gov.uk or by telephone 03456 009 009 and press option 6 (during regular open hours).
- New Haw library: every Saturday from 11am until 1pm. By appointment only. Book at the library desk or email it-support@nhlcp.org.uk.
- Oxted Library: every Thursday from 10am and 1pm. Please book your appointment in the library or by emailing oxted.library@surreycc.gov.uk.
- Redhill library: Every Tuesday from 10am to 12 noon. Please book an appointment at the library desk.
- Shepperton Library: Thursday from 2pm until 4.30pm. Book your session at the library desk.
- Staines Library: Thursday 2pm to 4pm. Drop in during this time but appointments are recommended if you have something specific you need help with. Appointments are 30 minutes each and can be booked in the library or by emailing staines.library@surreycc.gov.uk
- Stanwell Library: Fridays from 2pm to 3pm on selected dates. Please see Digital Support Volunteer section on Stanwell's events and activities page for dates. Sessions are available to drop-in and can also be booked in advance at the library helpdesk or by emailing stanwell.library@surreycc.gov.uk.
- Sunbury Library: every Wednesday from 10am to 12 noon and every Saturday from 10am to 12 noon. Sessions must be booked in advance, in person at the library or by emailing sunbury.library@surreycc.gov.uk
- Weybridge Library: every Saturday from 2.30pm to 3.30pm. Drop in during these times or appointments can be booked in the library or by emailing weybridge.library@surreycc.gov.uk.
- Walton Library: Tuesdays from 2pm to 4pm. Booking in advance is essential. Please book your place at the Walton Library helpdesk.
- Woking Library: every Wednesday and Thursday from 2pm until 4pm. Sessions are for 30 minutes and must be booked in advance at the enquiries desk in Woking Library.

Our Digital Support Volunteers can:
- Support learners to use computers/laptops independently in the library for the first time: this will cover logging on to the library Wi-Fi, booking a library computer, logging on/off.
- Promote the use of library virtual services, including the library Solus app and membership.
- Introduce our online reference pages including daily newspapers, family history websites and Which? Magazine.
- Download eBooks and audiobooks.
- Support learners to practice IT skills by introducing them to suitable learning websites.
- Support learners to undertake basic computing tasks including:
- File management; opening, closing, editing, saving and printing files
- Navigating and searching the internet
- Using email and attachments
- Basic use of Microsoft Word
- Storing and organising photographs
- Using Skype and social media
- Online shopping
- Assist with iPads, smart phones and tablets.
