Our healthy living and independent skills supported learning courses are designed to give adults with learning disabilities the opportunity to develop practical life skills that promote independence, wellbeing, and confidence. These courses focus on everyday skills such as cooking, personal care, and making healthy lifestyle choices, all delivered in a supportive and engaging environment.

Our aim is to grow learners’ self-esteem and confidence by providing an opportunity to:

About Our Healthy Living and Independent Skills Courses

Our skilled tutors and supported learning assistants provide a personalised learning journey that is engaging, varied, and designed to suit each learner’s needs. Whether you're looking to build independence, learn how to lead a healthier lifestyle, or gain confidence in managing everyday tasks, our courses provide the ideal environment for personal growth.

We offer a range of healthy living and independent skills courses tailored to support adults with learning disabilities in Guildford, Woking, Camberley, Sunbury, and Molesey. These courses help learners improve their daily living skills, make informed health choices, and develop greater independence in a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

Cookery

Develop skills to prepare and cook simple healthy dishes and learn about kitchen safety and hygiene, whilst improving your numeracy skills.

Independent living skills

Build key life skills in safety, hygiene, healthy living and online safety, while improving your literacy, communication, and social skills through interactive and hands-on activities.

Mind, body and relationships

Learn about health, wellbeing, and relationships and how to build emotional strength. Develop self-awareness, communication and social skills.

Pathway to Reading

Develop your speaking and listening skills and recognition of signs/ symbols through activities to build your confidence and independence in everyday life.


How to enrol/IAG

Before enrolling on a course, we will meet with you to talk to you about your needs and interests. To arrange a meeting please contact a member of the Supported Learning Team who will let you know what information you need to bring with you. This will include evidence of any benefits you receive so we can see if you are eligible for any of our free courses.

It is important you are placed on the right course, whether you want to learn a new skill or maintain existing skills, so we may need to assess your English and maths starting points.

Fees

If you are not a UK national or have not lived in the UK for at least the three full years prior to the start of your course, you may have to pay a higher fee. Fees for learners coming to our courses via their school will be different to the fees found on our website.

Some fees will be FREE if you qualify under the Government’s rules. Full details will be explained to you at your Information, Advice and Guidance appointment.
