Jewellery & Silverwork - Make a Textured Silver Bangle Workshop

Course intent

This one-day workshop will enable you to make a beautiful textured silver bangle and, if time, to add a special silver charm. It is suitable for beginners and for those who have some previous experience of jewellery making. The workshop is ideal if you are keen to create jewellery either for yourself or as a gift

What will I learn?

You will start by experimenting with different textures that will be applied to your bangle.

You will learn the techniques of piercing, filing, soldering, texturing, measuring and forming metals and some simple design skills. You can aim to create a small silver charm to add to your unique bangle.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This workshop is suitable for beginners and also for those who have some previous experience of making jewellery and would like to extend their skills. All abilities are welcome. Jewellery making involves a lot of fine work so having steady hands will help.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

All tools are provided. You are welcome to bring your own tools if you have them.

The sundries cost for this workshop includes all materials.

Please bring a notebook or sketchpad and pencil.

It is essential that you wear closed toe shoes, not sandals or flip flops.

Please bring an apron and/or wear old clothes.

Long hair should be tied back in the studio.

Please note that there are stairs leading to, and in, the Guildford Jewellery Studio.

What can I do when I finish the course?

You can progress onto other workshops to make different items of jewellery or join a longer Jewellery and Silverwork class with Surrey Adult Learning
