Creative Upcycling (LD)

Course intent

Express your creativity, using a variety of techniques and recyclable materials to produce a range of individual and group art and craft projects. Learn about ‘Upcycling’, and how to use materials and equipment safely.

What will we cover?

During this course, you will have the opportunity to:

Complete a variety of recycled projects, making choices that help improve your skills and personal development

Research, plan, and complete both personal and group projects

Learn and use different techniques to make upcycled products

Use tools and equipment safely

Build confidence and social skills by taking part in group discussions and activities

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is for Entry Level learners with a learning disability, it is designed to help learners progress from their individual starting point to build confidence, independence, and social skills for everyday life.

You need to be able to follow guidance on health and safety and be ready to work as part of a group.

You need to be able to use pens, paintbrushes, and other equipment with or without support and be willing to get your hands dirty or wear gloves.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Bring an apron, overall or shirt to wear to help avoid clothing getting dirty.

Wear suitable clothes and closed toed shoes.

Bring a pen and reading glasses if you use them.

What can I do when I finish the course?

After this course you could progress to another supported learning course, or further courses with Surrey Adult Learning. We will meet with you to give information, advice and guidance on your next step.

Additional information

Bring a drink or money to buy refreshments during a short break.

Carers and/or family members supporting in the class will be required to follow our guidelines and acknowledge they have read our Personal Assistant Agreement.
