Course intent
On completion of stage 1, take your creative glass skills to the next level in this intermediate course designed for those with experience in the copper foil technique. Build on your foundational knowledge as you explore more intricate designs and tackle more complex 3D projects. This course will challenge you to push your creativity while honing your technical abilities.
What will I learn?
You will learn:
- Material Knowledge: Work with different types of glass and hand-cut glass with precision.
- Design Techniques: Develop more sophisticated designs and layouts.
- Production Process: Apply copper foil for soldering, panel assembly, and creating intricate structures. Work with multi-panel designs and build in 3D.
- Craftsmanship: Focus on precision and consistency for professional-quality results.
- Studio Practice: Understand the importance of a safe working environment and H&S requirements.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
Stage 2 – Suitable for learners who have completed stage 1 and would like to gain more experience and refine their skills within their chosen subject area. The focus will be on developing more control and proficiency in practice and learning and completing more complex projects.
Please note: this course is not suitable for pregnant or lactating mothers
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You need to bring:
- A sketchbook and pen
- An apron and closed toe shoes

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto Stained Glass courses, Glass workshops or further Arts & Crafts courses at SAL.
