Watercolour Painting (Model 1 week) - Stage 2

Course intent

You will learn to develop your painting the skills, gaining a deeper understanding of the processes whilst developing personal expression in your watercolour painting.

There will be a life model one week of the course.

  • Design Techniques: more advanced sketching techniques & mixing colours
  • Material Knowledge: The contextual use of materials & tools
  • Craftsmanship: Learn to observe and select your composition to engage the viewer
  • Production Process: Research other artists techniques & style
  • Workshop Practice: Understand the importance of a safe working environment and H&S requirements

    Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

    Stage 2 - Suitable for learners who have completed stage 1 and would like to gain more experience and refine their skills within their chosen subject area. The focus will be on developing more control and proficiency in practice and learning and completing more complex projects

    What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

    You need to bring:

  • Paper: Watercolour paper - Bockingford 140lb. (300 gsm) or similar.
  • Brushes: Synthetic or synthetic/hair mixtures, Round: 2, 6 and 8 or larger and a flat: ¾ or 1”
  • Paints: Student watercolours in tubes or pans; (Artist’s Colours if you can afford them)
  • Gummed brown paper strip 1½ or 2”
  • Watercolour palette for mixing paint
  • F, HB, B pencils
  • Tissues and/or cotton rags
  • Small natural sponge

Materials and resources you will need through the course will be discussed in your first session.
