About this subject

Dance is a great way to build your strength and flexibility and have fun whilst moving more.

Choose from Ballroom and Latin, Jazz, Tap, Ballet or Middle Eastern dance. Learn set routines and movements before bringing them all together to music. Tone your muscles and build up core strength whilst working on your sense of rhythm and memory with a variety of steps, sequences and patterns.

Our courses run over a period of weeks for a term. We have three terms in the year from September to July plus short courses at the start of summer.

Enrolments open each term in March, July and November. If courses have already started you may still be able to join so please contact us.

If courses are full please sign up to our newsletter to hear when enrolments open again.

Course levels and information

We run weekly beginners, improvers, and mixed abilities courses. We also run some one hour taster sessions.

  • Beginners will learn basic basic dance moves, steps, sequences and combinations. This will lead to learning a choreographed routine.
  • Improvers will enhance performance skills.

Please wear appropriate shoes and comfortable, suitable clothing which allows a full range of movement. We have a water fountain located by reception so we recommend you bring a water bottle.

Ballroom and Latin

Learn to recognise the musical rhythm and structure of the dances and how to dance socially with your partner.

On this course you will practice social foxtrot, quickstep, waltz, rumba, and cha cha cha. Even though you will be dancing socially with a partner, please do not feel you need to enrol as a partnership. You will need to wear heeled or flat shoes that hold the foot. Preferably with straps, not flip flops, pumps, or trainers.
