Join us for an exciting lecture on the life of King Francis I of France, one of the most fascinating and charismatic monarchs of the Renaissance.

What will I learn?

Known for his love of the arts, his rivalry with Emperor Charles V, and his efforts to strengthen France's influence in Europe, Francis I was a king who shaped history in bold and unexpected ways. In June 1529 King Henry VIII met his rival, King Francis I of France, at the Field of the Cloth of Gold. The meeting was so called because of the splendour of the occasion with the two monarchs vying to outdo each other in magnificent display
