Family Learning - Navigate the options after Y11 (college, apprenticeship, work) (Online)

Course intent

This 2-hour workshop is designed for parents/carers who reside in Surrey with children in Y11 or Y10. It’s aim is to help you understand the post-16 landscape of college, training courses, apprenticeships and work options so that you are able to support your young person’s next steps. The workshop is free and online for those who enrol.

What will I learn?

Parent/carers will develop an understanding of the options available to their children, what it means when a course is given a level (e.g. Level 2 or Level 3) and how to access support both financial and otherwise. The workshop will dispel the myths around deadlines and application processes for both college and apprenticeships, so you have confidence to support your child to pursue these options.

Specifically you will

  • Explore the options available to young people after they finish Y11.
  • Learn about some of the myths around deadlines and applications and post-16 learning
  • Understand the levels & duration of courses and apprenticeships
