Photography - Stage 2 (Online)

Course intent

This course is ideal for learners who have completed Stage 1 and want to deepen your understanding of photography. This course will provide you with the skills and tools to enhance your creativity and technical knowledge. Get ready to let your imagination flow and take your photography to the next level!

What will I learn?

You will learn:

  • Design Techniques: Improve your creative photography. Explore a range of subject matter to broaden your creative skills and confidence.
  • Material Knowledge: Gain a greater understanding of how your camera works in conjunction with post-production software.
  • Craftsmanship: Develop your skills and techniques, with guidance on all of the technical aspects of the medium. Begin to build a personal sketchbook to document your creative journey.
  • Production Process: Study the work of professional photographers to enhance your own creative style.
  • Workshop Practice: Learn key health and safety procedures to maintain a professional studio environment. Understand the proper care, cleaning, and handling of tools and materials to support your ongoing creative practice

There will be homework every week, you will find you make the most progress if you complete the tasks given throughout the course as well as attending every taught lesson and complete any self-directed study opportunities provided.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

Stage 2 - Suitable for learners who have completed stage 1 and would like to gain more experience and refine their skills within their chosen subject area. The focus will be on developing more control and proficiency in practice and learning and completing more complex projects

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You need to bring:

  • A notebook and pen
  • A fully ‘charged’ camera (& instruction booklet if you have it) & memory card
  • Other camera-related accessories

This course will be delivered through live online sessions using Zoom for Education.

To fully participate in this course, you will need:

  • An email address
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A computer/laptop /tablet with a fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome), microphone and webcam.

Once enrolled on this course you will receive detailed instructions for taking part online.

You will need to complete some course documentation to help assess your progress.

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto Photography - Stage 3, specific workshops or further Arts & Crafts courses at SAL.
