Social Media for Business Use Introduction (online) (HTP)

Course intent

You will be introduced to social media and discover how to use the different platforms to grow a business. You will build confidence with online tools, understand platform differences, and begin developing a professional online presence.

What will I learn?

You will:

Explore different social media platforms and how they are used in business

Create a professional business profile

Create simple posts using templates or tools like Canva

Understand the basics of content planning and scheduling

Discover how to engage with your audience

Gain an introduction to social media insights (reach, engagement, etc.)

Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values

This course is for

beginners, including sole traders, small business owners, side hustlers.

individuals who want to understand how to use social media more confidently and professionally

You must have your Social Media platforms set up before joining the course.

You must have basic mouse, keyboard/tablet & internet skills including how to

Open and save files

Use cut, copy and paste.

Search for images online

Save and recover your files

If you are completely new to computers, please look at our Digital Skills & Confidence courses first.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

To fully participate in this course, you will need:

An email address

A reliable internet connection

A computer/laptop /tablet with a fully updated browser

A working microphone and webcam.

Have details of at least one contact (family member or friend) who already uses social media.

Once enrolled on this course you will receive detailed instructions for taking part online

If you struggle to read printed text on a screen, you may find it beneficial to have access to a printer to make your own hard copies of resources.

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto another Surrey Adult learning course, such as:
