Small Business Planning & Finances - The Basics (Online)

Course intent

You will acquire the skills and knowledge to set up a small business, such as Simple Business Structures, Business Planning and Financial Statements. You will develop plans to successfully manage your business finances, discover common pitfalls and how to avoid them.

You will outline strategies—such as tracking your accounting, managing your operating cycle, and forecasting cash flow and look at pricing structures.

  • Record keeping and best practice
  • Financial planning and forecasting
  • Managing cash flow and coping with insufficient capital
  • Introduction to financial statement
  • Product pricing and pricing strategies
  • How to prepare and present a business plan
  • Identifying sources of funding and raising money
  • Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values

For courses of more than one session, you will find you make the most progress if you attend every taught lesson and complete any self-directed study opportunities provided.

This course will be delivered through live online sessions using Zoom for the Autumn Term.

To fully participate in this course, you will need:

  • A good understanding and use of the English language
  • An email address
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A computer/laptop /tablet with a fully updated browser
  • microphone and webcam.

Once enrolled on this course you will receive detailed instructions for taking part online.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Learners are asked to have a pen, pencil, ruler, rubber, A4 Notepad and calculator. As this is an online course you will need:

  • An email address
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A computer/laptop/tablet or phone with a fully updated browser (preferably Google Chrome), microphone and camera

This is a live, interactive course and you will need to log on at the given time to access the course.

Once you enrol you will be emailed detailed joining instructions. This will be approximately 3 days before the course starts. Please check your junk folder.

What can I do when I finish the course?
