Course intent

Making homemade bread is a great everyday skill and a party piece that impresses!

What will we cover?

This 2.5-hour workshop intends to teach you the basic recipes and techniques for making delicious homemade bread and give you the confidence to experiment further with breadmaking in your own kitchen. You will concentrate on the techniques of preparing the dough and baking a variety of loaves.

During the workshop you will prepare the different types of breads:

  • Basic bread loaf
  • Flat Breads
  • Banana Bread

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This workshop is suitable for those who are new to breadmaking or would like to refresh their skills. It is suitable for vegetarians and those with any specific dietary requirements.

You will be required to meet specific hygiene and safety requirements as part of the cookery session, including frequent handwashing, and cleaning your own working surfaces and equipment. The workshop is taught in English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

You will receive a workbook outlining all you need to know before, during and after your workshop. It will outline the key ingredients and resources you will need to supply. It is important to wear clothes and footwear suitable for a busy, hot kitchen.

Not all learners work at the same pace and time may not allow all the breads to prove and be baked during the workshop. Proving times are also impacted by the temperature of the cookery room. To avoid any disappointment, please bring a loaf tin with you if you need to take your white loaves home to be baked. It's important your loaf is properly proved before baking.

What can I do when I finish the course?

If you enjoy the workshop, please do book onto the next breadmaking course in the term. We look forward to seeing you again.
