Flower Arranging Workshop – Create a Magnificent Freestanding Table Arrangement [SSK]

Course intent

Whether you are a beginner or already have some experience flower arranging, you will learn the knowledge and skills needed to make beautiful, freestanding table arrangement. Enjoy the well-being benefits gained through working in a friendly, creative learning environment.

What will we cover?

We will discuss and explore different sundries that can be used to create a freestanding framework. We will look at different techniques that can be used to secure the framework and you will then be guided on how to create a freestanding structure that will be suitable for a summer table arrangement.

• Preparation of flowers and foliage
• How to create a freestanding framework incorporating test tubes
• How to incorporate summer flowers using the principles of design
• How to care for your design
• Using tools and equipment safely
• Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values
• The importance of a clean and tidy studio

To ensure that learners make good progress with their personal learning goals, the tutor will work with the learner on their Individual Learning Plan.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This course is suitable for all levels of ability. No previous experience is necessary it is suitable for both beginners and for those wishing to refine their technical and design skills in a friendly, soothing, focused class.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

• A pen and notebook to help you to remember the different stages in the design

• Scissors, secateurs, wire cutters
• Bamboo canes
• Test tubes
• A selection of flowers
• Something to cover your table (Plastic sheet)
• A box/container to take your design home in

A more detailed list will be given nearer the time.

What can I do when I finish the course?

Learners can progress onto other Arts & Crafts courses with SAL: your tutor, Lesley Prendergast, offers Wednesday morning and afternoon classes in Flower Arranging during term time in both Woking and Guildford and runs occasional Saturday workshops.
