Photography – Portrait Photography (with model) – Improvers Workshop [SSK]

Course intent

This one-day workshop will introduce you to STUDIO & LOCATION portrait photography. With a model we will explore basic studio ‘head-shot’ portraits with simple lighting set-up, and the second part of the day will be ‘location’ portraiture, using a mix of daylight and ‘fill-in’ flash photography.

What will we cover?

· Studio lighting set up for portraits · Understanding best equipment required for studio work · Directing and working with a model · Practical exercises · Location portraits – understanding light and mixing ambient and flash lighting

There may be opportunities to take photos outside, weather and venue permitting.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This workshop is for IMPROVERS & those who have some working knowledge of photography.

As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Your camera (fully charged!) and any associated equipment (flash). We have a simple studio lighting set-up and the tutor will have several flash units to use on the day – however if you have a camera that is NOT a Canon or Nikon, these flash units are unlikely to be compatible with your camera manufacturer.

What can I do when I finish the course?

In discussion with your tutor, you may like to progress onto our other Arts & Crafts courses where photography would be an advantage.
