Strong for Longer Yoga Summer Taster [SSK]

Course intent

Hatha Yoga encompasses physical postures (asanas) and breathing exercises to increase body awareness, build strength & flexibility and improve postural alignment.

What will we cover?

On this one-off summer session

You will be learning a range of yoga postures (asanas) in standing, seated and if you choose, lying positions. You will also learn breathing exercises (pranayama) and relaxation techniques. Hatha Yoga involves moving into and holding postures, including variations to suit your developing abilities. The tutor will give you variations for each exercise suited to your own level of experience and ability. The tutor may include using equipment, such as blocks, or bolsters, to help you achieve better alignment.

Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?

This session is open to everyone of all abilities. We welcome absolute beginners and learners already enrolled on our courses. The tutor will ensure it is the right level for you. This taster is taught in English.

You will be asked to complete a Pre-Exercise Check List at the start of the course so that the tutor knows your current health needs and abilities. If you have mild to moderate health/mobility issues, your tutor should be able to suggest adaptations to enable you to enjoy the benefits of this summer session.

What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?

Wear comfortable clothing which allows a full range of movement, e.g. raising the arms above the head and bending over/crouching down. Yoga is practised with bare feet. Bring extra layers and/or a blanket for relaxation.

You will need a non-slip yoga mat, either bring your own or borrow one of ours. Bring a water bottle, we have fountains to refill.

What can I do when I finish the course?

We hope to see you on one of our Yoga courses in the Autumn. Please do look at the website.
