According to your level, you will develop drawing, painting, mixed-media and design skills, gaining a deeper understanding of the range of techniques and processes. What will we cover?

In this course we will cover: ● A range of new, found and prepared surfaces and backgrounds ● Experimenting to see how certain materials behave when combined with others on a surface, including the use of collage ● How to use a variety of materials such as pencil, pen, charcoal, ink, paint and glue ● Tone, colour, texture, and composition ● The use of materials and tools ● The element of drawing in mixed media ● Proportion ● Colour mixing ● Tonal values ● The use of a sketchbook ● Looking at and understanding other artists’ work ● Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values ● The importance of a clean and tidy studio

Learners will be inspired by the contemporary and historical context and will need to keep a sketchbook / notebook to record ideas, processes and progress, and the feedback they receive from the tutor.

There will be demonstrations, instruction, one-to-one tutorial guidance, group discussions and critiques.

To ensure that learners make good progress with their personal learning goals, the tutor will work with the learner to complete the required Individual Learning Plan.

For courses of more than one session, you will find you make the most progress if you attend every taught lesson and complete any self-directed study opportunities provided
