Course intent
You will learn how to be more creative by using your cameras settings and get more creative with your photography. Any type of camera is acceptable.
What will we cover?
• Working healthily and safely
This one-day course will help you to:
- Familiarise yourself with the functions and features of your own camera.
- Practise using your camera’s automatic and manual settings to achieve different effects.
- Understand how to use compose your pictures more successfully.
- How different lenses, flash and other accessories can be used to enhance your photos.
- There may be opportunities to take photos outside, weather and venue permitting.
Some of these topics may be negotiated according to the needs and interests of the group
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is suitable as a general introduction to maximise the use of their camera. No skill with any type of camera is required, just a willingness to learn.
As our courses are taught in English, please contact us if you have any concerns about your level of English.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
You will need your own Digital Camera (any format) with lens, memory card & instruction booklet.
Ensure the batteries are fully charged and bring a notebook and pen.
The tutor will email handouts & notes to accompany the course.

What can I do when I finish the course?
In discussion with your tutor you may like to progress onto our other Arts & Crafts courses where photography would be an advantage. We also offer longer 10 week courses in Photography for beginners in Woking on a Monday evening and a Tuesday morning, and Photography for Improvers at Camberley and Farnham centres. There are some 5 week photography courses in Camberley and we offer some photography courses online. We also offer further photography Saturday workshops and courses that focus on specific skills, such as photoshop and using the camera on your smart phone.

When you enrol, please let us know if you would like to discuss your extra support needs with a member of the Supported Learning Team who will then contact you as soon as possible. If you are enrolling within 10 days of the course start date, we may not be able to contact you before your first class.
