Course intent
The intent of this course is to express creativity and develop skills to produce art and craft projects, whilst learning how to use materials and equipment safely.
What will we cover?
During this course you will have the opportunity to:
Create art and craft projects.
Research, prepare and complete personal and group project(s).
Explore art and craft from other cultures.
Try new techniques needed to produce a piece of art or craft.
Use tools and equipment in a safe manner.
Improve confidence and social skills through participation in group discussions and activities.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is for Entry Level learners with a learning disability:
You need to be able to follow guidance on health and safety and be ready to work as part of a group.
You need to be able to use pens, paintbrushes and other equipment with or without support and be willing to get your hands dirty or wear gloves.
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
Please bring an apron, overall or shirt to wear to help avoid clothing getting dirty.
Please bring glasses, if you need them and a pen.
If you have a 1:1 in class with you, they will need to follow our Guidelines for Support Workers.
What can I do when I finish the course?
After this course you could progress to another supported learning or universal programme course. We will meet with you to give information, advice and guidance on your next step.
You will develop communication and work-related skills for example working with others and following instructions, these are transferrable skills that help towards employment.
