Course intent
The intent of this course is to learn pottery techniques, express creativity and to safely use equipment and materials whilst making items to sell. Learners will develop communication and numeracy skills whilst preparing for a mini enterprise sale to raise money for their chosen charity.
What will we cover?
During this course you will have the opportunity to:
Develop basic clay work and decorating skills to make items for sale
Identify tools and equipment needed for a chosen project
Work within your group to choose charities to support
Improve confidence and social skills while joining in with group discussions and Enterprise activities
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is for Entry Level learners with a learning disability.
You must be able to follow instructions and be ready to work as part of a group.
You need to be able to use pens, paintbrushes and other equipment with or without support.
You must be willing to get your hands dirty or wear gloves and be able to follow health and safety practices
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
Please bring an apron, overall or shirt to wear to help avoid your clothing getting dirty.
Please bring reading glasses if you use them and a pen.
You need to wear suitable clothes and closed toe shoes.
What can I do when I finish the course?
After this course you could progress to another supported learning or universal programme course. We will meet with you to give information, advice and guidance on your next step.
You will develop communication and work-related skills for example working with others and following instructions, these are transferrable skills and will help towards employment.
