Course intent
The intent of this course is to explore interesting topics linking the past and the present whilst developing communication and literacy skills.
What will we cover?
During this course you will have the opportunity to:
Explore, discover, and develop a greater knowledge of history
Work together to research topics and create individual or group projects
Discover local places or events of historical or important interest
Improve confidence and social skills through participation in group discussions and activities.
Who is this course for? Is there anything I need to know before joining?
This course is for Entry Level learners with a learning disability.
This course is suited to learners who have an interest in history and discovering information.
You will need to have some basic literacy and numeracy skills, for example be able to recognise/write some words and ideally read simple sentences.
You must be able to follow instructions, guidance on health and safety and be ready to work as part of a group
What do I need to bring to the first class? Will there be any extra costs?
Please bring reading glasses, if you use them and a pen.
If you have a 1:1 in class with you, they will need to follow our Guidelines for Support Workers.
What can I do when I finish the course?
After this course you could progress to another supported learning or universal programme course. We will meet with you to give information, advice and guidance on your next step.
You will develop communication and work-related skills, for example working with others and following instructions. These are transferrable skills that help towards employment.
