Book your marriage or civil partnership ceremony

Once you have chosen your ceremony option you can book your marriage or civil partnership ceremony at a register office or licensed venue, up to two years before your ceremony date.

If you have chosen to have your ceremony at a licensed venue, please check availability with the licensed venue first before you book your registrar.

Before you book please read our bookings terms and conditions and please note we offer a 14 day cooling off period, whereby you are entitled to cancel the booking without loss of prepayments.

You can now book your civil marriage or civil partnership ceremony online. This is the quickest and most efficient way to check availability and finalise your booking.

Once you have made your booking, you should receive payment confirmation through GOV.UK Pay. All bookings are considered provisional until they have been reviewed and approved by a Registrar from Surrey Registration Service. You should receive a booking confirmation email the next working day after your booking was made.

We will discuss the legal preliminaries that you need to complete and send you detailed information about your booking.

You do not need to have any specific paperwork or identity documents to make a booking.

Important information

Outdoor ceremonies: From 1 July 2021, civil marriages and civil partnerships can be held at Approved Premises venues in the room(s) within the built premises which are approved and outdoor areas within the boundaries of the land on which the built premises stand, provided that certain conditions are met. Please consult with your venue directly to find out if they can offer an outdoor ceremony. Outdoor ceremonies cannot take place at venues that do not hold an approved premises licence.

Outdoor ceremonies are not available at the Surrey register offices.
