Surrey County Council is progressing plans for there to be one Family Centre in Tandridge based in Caterham. Whilst a permanent building is being sourced, the new Tandridge Family Centre will be based at Hurst Green Infant School.
The Tandridge Family Centre is providing outreach services for families where challenging family circumstances are having a significant impact on the health, development or wellbeing of the child/children living in the home. Due to the current Coronavirus restrictions, this support is provided by telephone or social media or by helping the families to access essential supplies until the social distancing restrictions are lifted.
Tandridge Family Centre – offering a community-based outreach service for families from July 2020
The new family centre for Tandridge is operated by Barnardos a national charity with experience of providing targeted services for the most vulnerable children and young people. Barnardos is already a partner working with us in Surrey.
The new Tandridge Family Centre offers an outreach model of family support service across Tandridge supporting families where it best suits their needs. This could be in the family home, at local community venues or in the centre itself, they visit families most in need who live anywhere in the Tandridge district. There will be some activities for groups of families who need extra help who share the same issues, for example, postnatal depression or parenting. In addition, staff will signpost families to activities run in the community by other organisations.
Requests for family support for families who need targeted help can be made through https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/social-care-and-health/childrens-social-care/contact-childrens-services. The C-SPA provides residents and people who work with children in Surrey with direct information, advice and guidance about where and how to find the appropriate support for children and families.
