The Early Years and Childcare Service carries out research and consultation activities to make sure that the services we deliver reflect the needs of parents, childcare providers and other partners.
We consult parents and carers and childcare providers on a regular basis so that we can understand what is happening on both sides. We ask them about a range of topics, including:
- details of childcare staff
- their views on the childcare market
- how successfully the early years and childcare service supports them.
Childcare sufficiency assessments
Childcare sufficiency assessments map information about childcare demand against childcare supply, as well as the views of parents. This helps us identify gaps in childcare provision so that we can address them.
