Special events

British Science Week

  • Monday 9 March, from 10.30am to 11am.

To celebrate British Science Week, Farnham Library will be running a special sensory storytime. We will be reading Oscar and the Snail and learning about some of the materials that you find around you.

World Book Day special storytimes

  • Thursday 5 March, 2 sessions:
    • From 11am, a special pigeon themed story and craft.
    • From 4pm, after school storytime session at 4pm for children aged 4 and above.

Why not come dressed as your favourite book character! Can you guess who the staff are dressed up as?

We are also going to be running a book swap on the day. Why not bring a book from home that you have finished with and swap it for a different one.

Board game group

  • 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, 2pm–4pm.

Fancy a game?

Farnham Library is starting a board game group with the first session on Saturday 7 March, 2pm–4pm.

Come and have some fun playing games, meet new people and make new friends. All ages and abilities welcome. If you have a game at home that you would like to try out then feel free to bring it along with you.

If you have any unwanted board games at home then please donate them to the library for our new group.

Mother's Day bath bomb workshop

  • Tuesday 17 March, 3pm–6pm.

Looking for a personal gift for Mother's Day, why not come to our drop in bath bomb workshop?

For £3 you will get to make 2 bath bombs and a personalised gift box for them to go in. All ages and abilities welcome but very small children may need some assistance. Even adults are welcome to take part!

It takes between 30 and 60 minutes to make your bath bombs and gift box and the timing varies depending on age, ability and the amount of time spent decorating your gift box so please take this into account. Drop in on the day or book in advance to guarantee a space.

Reading groups

New Chatterbooks group

We are very happy to be hosting a new Chatterbooks group for children aged 8–11. The group will meet once a month on Tuesdays from 4.45pm to 5.30pm.

We are now looking for new members. Please ask at the library counter for more information.

Farnham Library Wednesday reading group

This is open to all book lovers who enjoy discussing books. Come along and join.

  • Second Wednesday of each month, from 2pm to 3pm.

Farnham Library Thursday reading group

This is open to all book lovers who enjoy discussing books. Come along and join.

  • Second Thursday of each month, from 10.30am to 11.30pm in the Headspace Area of Farnham Library.

Books Beyond Words

Our new reading group is meeting 10.30am-11.30am on the following Fridays:

Other events

Science clubs

Would you like to join one of our science clubs?

Farnham Library Science Clubs are held on alternate Tuesdays (4.30pm–5.30pm, starting after Easter) and Thursdays (4pm–5pm) during term time for children aged 6–11 years. Each session costs £3 or £10 for 4 sessions. Upcoming sessions:

  • Thursday 13 February - Trebuchets.
  • Thursday 27 February - Seed distribution.
  • Thursday 12 March - British Science Week - The theme of British Science week this year is "My Diverse Planet". To celebrate British Science Week we will be running a special session about camouflage.
  • Thursday 26 March - Egg drop.

Science Club will be taking a break for the Easter Holidays and will resume on Thursday 23 April:

  • Thursday 23 April and Tuesday 28 April - Bubbles.
  • Thursday 7 May and Tuesday 12 May - Straw rollercoaster.
  • Thursday 21 May and Tuesday 26 May - Parachutes.
  • Thursday 4 June and Tuesday 9 June - UV protection.
  • Thursday 18 June and Tuesday 23 July - Animal adaptations.
  • Thursday 2 July and Tuesday 7 July - Pinball machines.

Farnham Library Science Club is currently taking part in the CREST awards. The CREST awards are a nationally recognised scheme and Farnham Library is offering the Star and Superstar awards for children aged 5–11. The CREST awards are managed by the British Science Association.

The Thursday Science Club is fully booked up until the Easter holiday's and we currently have a waiting list. We are now taking bookings for the new Tuesday Science Club. If anyone is interested in signing up for science club then they need to contact Farnham Library for a registration form.

English Talk Time

  • Every Wednesday from 1pm to 2pm, starting 18 March.

Previously called 'Natter Club' the new English Talk Time' will now be run once a week, every Wednesday. It is free and everyone is welcome to join! Just pop in, there is no need to book or to be a member of the library (although we would love you to join). Chat to your heart's content, and swap your books for books in other languages, if you wish to. The club is suitable for ages 18 years and over.

Digital Buddy

Would you like help using computers and the internet? Make an appointment on a Thursday or Friday morning with our Digital Buddy who can offer free, one to one, support.
