Ensemble open rehearsals

Surrey Arts offer over 40 ensembles each week for students to take part in. The ensembles include orchestras, bands and choirs and are fun, a great way to develop playing skills, play with other musicians and perform in concerts.

At the start of each term there is the opportunity to come and try one of Surrey Arts ensembles at an open rehearsal. These are a great opportunity to come and see the ensembles, the music they play and join in and experience what it is like to be part of an ensemble.

North Surrey ensembles

Camberley Youth Wind Orchestra Juniors: Beginner to Grade 4. Saturday 18 April 9.30am until 11.30am, Cordwalles Junior School, Camberley.

For students who play at grade 6 level or above there is the opportunity to play with some of Surrey's most talented young musicians who play and represent the county in one of our county ensembles.

Surrey County Youth Orchestra

A full symphony orchestra attracting students throughout Surrey

Level: Grade 7 or above. Membership via audition following open rehearsal

Surrey County Youth Wind Orchestra

Woodwind, Brass and Percussion orchestra

Level: Grade 6 +

Surrey Advanced Brass Ensemble

A symphonic brass ensemble comprising musicians from all over the Surrey area, providing the opportunity to explore music written for different types of brass groups, as well as utilising a variety of the related brass instruments not required in traditional orchestras, wind orchestras or jazz bands, such as cornets, flugel horns and even the sousaphone.

Level: Grade 6 +
Open rehearsal: Sunday 19 April, 2pm until 5pm. The ensemble rehearses every other Sunday

Surrey County Percussion Ensemble

Varied repertoire ranging from jazz to samba, to TV and film themes, performing on a wide range of instruments from congas to marimbas, djembes to xylophones.

Level: Grade 6 +

Surrey County Youth Jazz Orchestra

Level: Grade 6 or above aged between 13 and 18. Membership via audition following open rehearsal
Currently recruiting for double bass/bass guitar, trumpet and trombone.

Surrey Youth Choir

One of the leading youth choirs in the country. A full soprano, alto, tenor and bass (SATB) choir, performing an eclectic repertoire, comprising of singers from all parts of Surrey.

Level: Aged 12 plus
