Surrey Youth Council

The Surrey Youth Council is new for 2026. It gives young people a real voice in what happens across Surrey. It’s an exciting way to get involved, speak up about what matters to you, and help make change happen.

It builds on the Surrey Youth Cabinet. The new structure means more young people can take part and share their views.

What is the Surrey Youth Council?

Members of Surrey Youth Council

The Surrey Youth Council (SYC) is for 11 to 18-year-olds who want to make Surrey a better place for young people.

It brings together young people from across the county who have different experiences, interests and ideas.

If you care about fairness, the environment, mental health, safety, education or shaping the future, this is your space.

The Surrey Youth Cabinet sits within the Youth Council. This is a team of elected young people who:

  • lead on key projects
  • focus on big topics like health, climate, education and safety
  • meet twice a year with Surrey County Council’s Cabinet
  • work with councillors and staff to make sure young voices influence decisions

You can find out more on the Surrey Youth Cabinet page.

Part of Surrey Youth Voice

SYC is part of Surrey Youth Voice and works with the council’s User Voice and Participation (UVP) team.
You will be supported, listened to, and given real chances to shape change.
