There are a number of stages involved in the review, the current stage is: Implementation.

Assessments

The deadline for requests for new parking controls to be considered as part of this parking review was June 2024.

We have completed a desktop review of the requests received, and subsequent site assessments. The requests are assessed based on a number of factors, including road safety, accessibility, congestion, the possibility of just displacing a problem and how many people supported the change.

Authorisation

Having discussed and agreed the proposals with county councillors, authorisation to advertise our intention to make the changes has been granted by the Parking and Enforcement Team Manager.

Advertisement and objections

On 1 August 2025, we advertised our intention to introduce our parking proposals. There followed a 28 day period during which we accepted public comments and objections, which are currently being analysed before making our final decisions about what to introduce.

The proposals are still available to view in the attached documents. To find the location you're interested in, first open the Statement of Reasons (PDF), search for the road you're interest in, and then open the relevant drawing pack.

As part of the advertising process, we have taken steps to make people who may be affected by the proposals, aware of them. We erected street notices at affected locations and wrote to properties fronting any proposed new restrictions. We also published the mandatory legal notice in the local press, and copies of the proposed traffic orders, the statement of reasons and the drawings available for inspection at the council offices and libraries.

Approval

The feedback received was read, analysed, and discussed with the county councillor for the area in question. The final decisions were made by the Parking and Traffic Enforcement Manager in consultation with the relevant county councillor.

The Decision report (PDF) summarises the feedback received and the final decisions made. Amended drawings (PDF) are provided to show revised schemes. Please note, no drawings are provided for cancelled schemes.

We'll write to anyone who raised a comment or objection to advise of the outcome. There is no 'appeal' stage.

Implementation

We have completed 'detailed design' for the new signs and lines required and raised a work order with our contractors. The new signs and lines should be implemented across April, May and June 2026.

We are in the process of finalising the traffic regulation orders and will publish a 'made notice' in the local press. We expect this to take place in late April or early May.

Once the traffic orders are made, and the new signs and lines are in place, the new restrictions will come into effect.
