2022 is the Queens Platinum Jubilee year, as of 6 February 2022 Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
There will be lots of things going on in Surrey and we'll try to round up what events are going on throughout the year. Here's what we know so far.
First of all you'll be getting a four day Bank Holiday weekend Thursday 2 June to Sunday 5 June. So put the date in your diaries.
Big Lunches and street parties
Street parties and events
If you're thinking of organising a street party or an event you will need to submit an application. This is not done via Surrey County Council but via your local district and borough council.
If you need to apply for a road closure please allow 6 to 12 weeks before your event. See the links below to submit an application in your area. Please note: the deadline for road closure applications is April 2022, but please check your local district and borough website below for more details.
The Big Jubilee Lunch
The Big Lunch is an idea from the Eden Project to bring people together to meet, chat and have fun in their neighbourhoods, annually fundraising £8m for local causes they care about. It's about sharing food and fun during the Jubilee bank holiday weekend of 2-5 June 2022, or throughout the Month of Community in June as we celebrate good causes across the UK. Great things happen when we all get together! For tips and ideas on hosting your own Big Lunch event visit the Eden Project's Big Jubilee Lunch website.
