Celebrate on 10 May at your favourite local dog-friendly destination
Now in its seventh year, Surrey Day is set to return on Saturday 10 May to celebrate all that is great about our county. This year’s secondary theme is Take The Lead for Surrey Day, giving you the perfect excuse to get out and about with your four-legged friends!
Events happening near you
Many local attractions are putting on dedicated doggie-themed events on 10 May. There is something for everyone, whether you want to capture your hound looking it’s best at the ‘Pet Gala selfie station, test their skills in a dog agility arena, or socialise with other pet lovers. Take a look at the Surrey Day events page for the full selection.
Visit Surrey also have a helpful ‘dog friendly Surrey’ webpage with lists of:
- attractions and events that are dog-friendly all year round
- ideal places for dog walking
- accommodation that welcomes dogs
Driving for a day out with your pup on Surrey Day? Tune into BBC Radio Surrey on 104.6 FM on 10 May to enjoy a full day of programmes dedicated to Surrey Day.
Dog walking in Surrey’s countryside
Surrey’s countryside is a beautiful, tranquil, and environmentally sensitive place enjoyed by local wildlife and visitors alike. We want all dog walkers to have a happy, healthy, hassle-free visit and so ask that you follow our code of conduct.
Between March and September, please keep paws on paths to stop the disturbance of rare ground nesting birds. Over half of England's most threatened bird species such as the Nightjar, Dartford Warbler and Skylark nest on or near the ground. This is important at all our sites but especially our heathland sites; Chobham Common, Puttenham Common, Whitmoor Common, Rodborough Common and Wisley and Ockham Commons.
Tag us in your poochie pics
As part of this year’s Surrey Day celebrations, on Saturday May 10, Visit Surrey are asking you to Take the Lead and share your favourite local dog walks and dog-friendly destinations to enjoy with your four-legged friends (and piccies of your pooches, of course!). Tag @visitsurrey on social media and use the #SurreyDay hashtag).
