Wildlife-themed event inspired all ages to connect with nature
Families and students from across Surrey came together for a celebration of nature, creativity and community on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 September, at the free Surrey Nature Day event at West Horsley Place.
Surrey Nature Day gave residents an opportunity to share their ideas and learn more about Surrey's Local Nature Recovery Strategy, a plan to restore biodiversity and nature throughout the county.
On Friday, 500 students from over 15 Surrey schools, and Mayors from five district and boroughs, were treated to performances of Wild Walks, produced and directed by Guildford Shakespeare Company. The immersive show captivated young minds, encouraging them to explore the importance of habitat restoration and how we can work together to protect it.
Students also enjoyed an interactive, educational exhibition, featuring stallholders from across Surrey County Council and our partners. Each stall showed how the county is taking steps to restore and protect local biodiversity.
On Saturday, visitors of all ages were able to enjoy activities at the family day.
You can find out more about the strategy and subscribe for updates about the consultation on the Surrey Nature Recovery Commonplace webpage.
