Enterprise Advisers are fundamental to the Surrey Careers Hub and play an important role in shaping the positive future of young people across the county. They're business professionals dedicated to making a lasting impact on the future outcomes of young people.
Volunteers use their skills, business experience, and networks to support local schools and colleges, providing invaluable employer perspectives and putting opportunities with local businesses at the heart of a young person's education.
What's in it for you?
There's more to becoming an Enterprise Adviser than just giving back to the community. You'll also:
- Develop and grow your experience in strategic planning
- Understand how to communicate and connect with young people
- Access support from a national and local network of like-minded people
- Gain a deeper understanding of the education sector and its challenges
As business professionals, we often forget the valuable skills and networks that we have. These could be so beneficial to schools, helping them focus on what they are great at - which is educating our young people!

Could you be an Enterprise Adviser?
Surrey Careers Hub is looking for experienced employees to volunteer as Enterprise Advisers. You could help to:
- Support your local school or college's senior leadership team to raise the quality of careers provision
- Develop the knowledge and skills of Careers Leaders and Education Leaders
- Engage with local businesses and employers in your network to promote a range of diverse career paths, including apprenticeships, technical pathways, and vocational routes
- Focus interventions on those who need it most
- Develop and implement a careers strategy that puts opportunities with local employers at the heart of a young person's education
- Build strong working relationships with your local school or college and provide insight into your organisation and industry
All Enterprise Advisers receive dedicated support from the Surrey Careers Hub team, including training and resources needed for the role.
Whilst you would be helping a Surrey based school or college, our dedicated team partners with The Careers and Enterprise Company (CEC). This is England's national body for careers education, to support schools and colleges in delivering modern, 21st-century careers education.
With a growing network of over 4,500 schools and colleges, more than 4,500 Enterprise Advisers, and more than 400 Cornerstone Employers, the CEC Careers Hubs work with secondary schools, colleges and employers to improve careers education and secure better outcomes for young people.
