If you have dementia, or care for someone who does it can be difficult. There are organisations and places that can help.

Action for Carers

Action for Carers have specialist advice for dementia carers. They also offer support groups.

Alzheimer's Society

Alzheimer's Society is a national charity which offers:

  • a listening ear
  • visits in person
  • help to find out about dementia
  • ways to cope
  • legal help
  • online chat community

Carers UK offer information and advice to carers.

Dementia First

Dementia First is a charity in East Surrey which offers:

  • day care
  • help and advice

Wellbeing Centres

Local centres offer support to people with memory loss and dementia. This includes:

  • classes and groups
  • drop-in help
  • exercise
  • help and advice

Admiral Nurse Dementia UK Helpline

The free helpline is run by specialist nurses.

Dementia support line

The Dementia Support Line is run by the Alzheimer's Society.

Their opening hours are:

  • Monday to Wednesday 9am to 8pm
  • Thursday and Friday 9am to 5pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm

Alzheimer’s Research UK

Get information on:

  • how to spot it
  • how to treat it

They carry out dementia research which you can get involved in.
