The Community Equipment Service (CES) can loan some equipment to support any care you receive at home, or to help you stay independent at home.

Types of equipment available

The equipment available includes:

  • grab rails to help you safely access essential facilities inside and outside your home
  • furniture raisers to help you move on and off your chair and bed
  • equipment to help you move on and off the toilet
  • walking aids
  • equipment to help with bathing and showering
  • hoists and other equipment for carers to help you with personal hygiene tasks or to access essential facilities in your home
  • small wheelchair ramps to your front door.

Who can get equipment from the CES?

To be eligible to get equipment from the CES, you need to:

  • live in Surrey, or
  • be registered with a GP in Surrey.

You also need to be assessed by an authorised health or social care professional to see what equipment you need.


How to get equipment

Your local NHS service (usually an occupational therapist, physiotherapist or nurse) or Adult Social Care team at Surrey County Council can organise the equipment for you if you are eligible.

The relevant professional will order suitable equipment. You cannot order equipment directly from the CES.


Repairs or breakdowns

If you have any equipment supplied by the Surrey CES that needs repairing, please contact Millbrook Healthcare:

Their standard operating hours are Monday-Friday 8am-8pm.

Urgent repairs and breakdowns

You can also report urgent repairs at any time by calling them on 0330 124 1247


How to return loaned equipment

Please return equipment when you no longer need it.

If you can't find a sticker or a number, please:

  • contact the hospital or surgery that arranged the equipment for you
  • take it back to the CES depot. The address is: Block 8, Henley Business Park, Pirbright Road, Normandy, near Guildford, GU3 2DX

About the CES in Surrey

Millbrook Healthcare provide the Community Equipment Service in Surrey on behalf of Surrey County Council and its health partners.

You can only access the service via an authorised Surrey health or social care professional.
