Work experience in Surrey Fire and Rescue Service

Career insights in Surrey Fire and Rescue Service

We will be piloting career insights as an alternative to the traditional work experience pathway. Career insights are planned to run from 2023 and will involve a cohort of students being invited to join our crews for the day either on station, or within our Joint Fire Control team (the team who handle our 999 calls).

Dates are not confirmed, however this is likely to take place during the summer term.

At Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, we intend to offer insight to students who wish to learn more about community protection, team work, positive attitudes, and how to get the best from yourself and others.

We would like to encourage enthusiastic students to seek approval from their school if they are interested in being part of the pilot.

Who can apply for our career insights?

Rather than receiving individual requests from students, we are working in partnership with schools to build a cohort of students who wish to learn about what it is like to work within Surrey Fire and Rescue service.

Our work experience scheme is aimed at students within Year 10 usually.

We also have some placements available for college or university students who are studying for a degree with a forensics focus within our Fire Investigation team. This is a longer placement usually for a gap year and we have very limited space to offer.
