The Street (C57) Charlwood Dorking
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 18 October 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of The Street (C57) Charlwood Dorking as extends from its junction with (C57) Norwood Hill Road to its junction with (D583) Perrylands.

Alternative Route: Horley Road, Charlwood Road, (C62) Reigate Road, (A217) Reigate Road, Horse Hill, Collendean Lane, and Norwood Hill Road, or this route in reverse.

This Order is required to facilitate highways carriageway/footway patching and/or carriageway/ footway surface dressing and/or carriageway/ footway resurfacing and/or major highway maintenance works by, or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible within 18-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 03 November 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times, as will access for emergency service vehicles in an emergency situation only. Vehicular access for residents and businesses will be maintained only where/when it is safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route. During certain phases of the works, vehicular access to premises may be restricted, when this is the case such restriction of access will apply for no more than eight hours within any 24-hour period.
