Temporary changes to bus services for road closures

Temporary changes or road closure information that may affect your journey by bus will be listed below when details are available. This information is supplied in good faith and is accurate at the time of publishing. Passengers should be aware that changes in road closure schedules can affect the start and length of works and checks should be made with the bus operator before travelling.

Farnham Town Centre Improvement Works

From Friday 30 May, as part of the Farnham town centre improvement works, there is a lane closure on Union Road which means the bus stop on Union Road cannot be served. This lane closure is expected to be in place until 17 August. The nearest alternative bus stops are:

  • Stagecoach 4/5 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 65 - West Street
  • Stagecoach 16 towards Aldershot - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 16 towards Weydon School - South Street
  • Stagecoach 18/19 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 46 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 404 - The Borough

From Monday 18 August, Downing Street in Farnham will be closed until 1 November 2025 and the bus stop at The Borough will not be accessible and will be temporarily moved to outside Jack and Alice on The Borough. Bus services will be diverted as below:

  • Stagecoach 4 – Will continue to divert via the A31 and West Street. The alternative bus stop to The Borough is on Castle Street. There will also be minor changes to the timetable.
  • Stagecoach 5 – Will continue to divert via the A31 and West Street. The alternative bus stop to the Borough is the temporary bus stop outside Jack and Alice. There will also be minor changes to the timetable.
  • Stagecoach 16/18/19 - Towards Aldershot, the bus will divert via the A31 and West Street and will not be able to serve Union Road. The alternative bus stop to the Borough and Union Road is the temporary bus stop outside Jack and Alice. The rest of the timetable is unchanged.
  • Stagecoach 46 – The service will divert via Farnham Railway Station to enter Farnham via South Street, and will then terminate on Union Road. The return journey will continue to leave Union Road via Long Bridge and Firgrove Hill. There will also be minor changes to the timetable.
  • Stagecoach 65 – Towards Alton, the bus will divert via South Street and the A31 and will not be able to serve bus stops on West Street named Downing Street, Mead Lane, The Chantrys and Coxbridge Farm. The rest of the timetable, and buses towards Guildford are unchanged.
  • Stagecoach 404 – The 0751 journey from Farnham Hospital will leave five minutes earlier and will divert via the A31 and West Street. The alternative bus stop to the Borough and Union Road is on Castle Street.

Lockfield Drive, Woking

From Monday 11 August, Lockfield Drive in Woking will be closed for 5 nights between the hours of 8pm and 6am due to works on the bridge over the Basingstoke Canal.

Stagecoach service  91 will divert via Goldsworth Road and Parley Drive and will resume the normal line of route at Marston Road. It will not be able to serve stops on Lockfield Dive.

Trumpsgreen Road, Virginia Water

From Monday 11 August, Trumpsgreen Road in Virginia Water will be closed between the hours of 8am to 6pm due to telecom works.

White Bus services 566/567 will divert via Christchurch Road, Wellington Avenue, onto Trumpsgreen Road and then will turn left onto Crown Road and right into Wellington Road to resume its normal line of route.  It will not be able to serve bus stops at Trumpsgreen shops

Hale Road, Farnham

From Friday 8 August until 16 August, Hale Road in Farnham will be closed between the Six Bells Roundabout and Monkton Lane for resurfacing works. The closure will be in place between the hours of 8pm to 6am weeknights only. The road is open at all other times.

While the road is closed, Stagecoach service 5 will divert via Castle Street and Folly Hill. The bus will not be able to serve bus stops on Upper Hale Road.

Old Road, Buckland

Due to surface dressing works by Surrey Highways, Old Road, Buckland (between the junctions with A25 Reigate Road and The Street) will be closed on Friday 8 August for 1 day only (8am - 5pm). As a result the Compass 32 service will be on diversion via Station Road, and bus stops on Old Road, Buckland will not be served.

Waterden Road, Guildford

Due to traffic signal works by Surrey Highways, Waterden Road, Guildford will be closed at the junction with A3100 London Road from Monday 4 August for approximately 3 weeks. As a result the Compass 23 service will be on diversion via Epsom Road and Hunter Road in both directions, and will be unable to serve the bus stops known as "G Live" on London Road.

Station Road, Egham

From Monday 4 August Station Road in Egham due to works by Affinity Water. The closure is expected to last until 11 August.

White Bus service 566/567 will divert via Vicarage Road, High Street, Church Road down the the Egham Hill roundabout where it will turn back to  the High Street, Church Road and Vicarage Road. It will not be able to serve bus stops at Egham Railway Station and Whitehall Lane.

Penton Road, Staines-upon-Thames

Due to carriageway improvement works by Surrey Highways, Penton Road, Staines-upon-Thames will be closed on Monday 11 August for 1 day only. As a result the Reptons 570 service will be on diversion, and service will not serve Penton Road.

Passengers are advised to either use the bus top on Laleham Road named "Park Avenue", or wait on Wheatsheaf Lane by the junction with Garrick Close - the Reptons 570 service will continue to serve Laleham Road and Wheatsheaf Lane (up until the junction with Garrick Close) as normal.

Court Lodge Road, Horley

As of Wednesday 30 July, due to badly parked cars blocking the road, the Metrobus 100 service has had to temporarily pull out of serving Court Lodge Road, Horley. Measures to prevent careless motorists parking in a way that blocks the road are being investigated, and the service will be returned to normal line of route as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the following bus stops cannot be served by the Metrobus 100 service: Court Lodge Shops, Rutherwick Close, Gower Road, Horley Leisure Centre, Court Lodge Road, Vicarage Road. Buses will operate between Horley Row and Victoria Road via Vicarage Road for the duration of this diversion.

Littleton Road, Ashford

From Monday 4 August, Littleton Road in Ashford will be closed for 7 days between the hours of 7am to 7pm for gas works.

Reptons service 574 will be able to serve the outward journey as normal, and for the return journey it will divert via Staines Road West and Ashford Road to rejoin the line of route on Charlton Road.

Kings Road, Shalford

From Wednesday 23 July, Kings Road in Shalford is closed due to gas works until 31 August.

Compass service 32 will divert through Bramley and Wonersh and will rejoin the route at the junction of New Road and Christmas Hill. It will not be able to serve bus stops on Kings Road or Christmas Hill.

Thursley Road, Elstead

From 21 July, Thursley Road in Elstead is closed due to gas works until 26 September.

Stagecoach service 46 will not be able to serve bus stops along Thursley Road and the nearest stop will be Elstead Green.

Sandcross Lane, Reigate

From 21 July, Sandcross Lane in Reigate has been closed due to emergency gas works. The works are expected to last until 28 July.

Metrobus services 422 and 424 will operate directly along Dovers Green Road and bus stops along Castle Drive, Hitchings Way, Sandcross Lane and Prices Lane are not being served.

Reigate Hill, Reigate

Due to works by SGN, Reigate Hill, Reigate (between the junctions of Raglan Road and Holmsdale Road) will be closed southbound-only from Monday 21 July until approximately Sunday 17 August.

As a result the Metrobus 420 and 460 services will be on diversion via Raglan Road, Croydon Road and Rushworth Road, and the following southbound bus stops on Reigate Hill will not be served: Brokes Road, Priory Gate Mews and Reigate Railway Station (Stop B).

Guildford Road, Normandy

From Monday 21 July, Guildford Road in Normandy will be closed between the junction of Bailes Lane and Glaziers Lane until 1 September due to gas works.

Stagecoach service 20 will divert via the A324 Pirbright Road and Cobbetts Hill Road and will not be able to serve bus stops along the Guildford Road between these points.

Gorsewood Road, Woking

From Monday 21 July, Gorsewood Road in Woking is closed between the hours of 8am and 6pm due to resurfacing works. The closure is expected to last until 11 August.

Falcon service 28 will divert via Hermitage Road and bus stops at Sutton Avenue, Hermitage Estate shops, Limewood Close and Brackenwood Road will not be served.

A3 Portsmouth road closures

National Highways are carrying out major safety improvement works to the A3 Wisley Interchange (M25 Junction 10). As a result there will be a series of weekend road closures at this location.

When closures are in place, the Falcon 715 service may only operate between Kingston and Cobham. The White Bus 462/463 service may not operate between Send Marsh Road and Ockham Roundabout, with bus stops in Ripley not being served.

As the nature of the closures may change as works progress, and different diversions may be necessary, we would advise passengers wishing to travel on these services to check the Falcon and White Bus websites for further updates before travelling.

A320 Guildford Road, Chertsey

As part of the A320 North of Woking Improvements Scheme there are road works taking place on the A320 Guildford Road that will affect bus services. There will be a series of evening and weekend closures by St Peter's Hospital and this page will be updated when further works are announced.

While the road is closed, White Bus service 446 and Falcon service 461 will be diverting via Foxhill Road, Stonehill Road and Holloway Hill and will be using the hospital entrance on Holloway Hill to serve the St Peter's Hospital bus stop. The buses will do the same in reverse.

High Street, Godstone

Due to a major sinkhole appearing in the carriageway, High Street, Godstone (between the junctions with A25 Oxted Road and Salisbury Road) has been closed from 18 February until further notice. Reports indicate the road will most likely remain closed for several months.

As a result of this closure the Metrobus 400, 409 and 410 services are on diversion and cannot use Godstone High Street. Passengers are advised to catch their bus from the "Godstone Green" bus stop (near the Needle's Bank public toilets) instead. In addition the 410 service will also be unable to serve the "Crowhurst Mead" or "Church Lane" bus stops on the A25 Oxted Road.

With regards to school services, the Metrobus 612 service for Oxted School will also be on diversion, and will be unable to serve the "Crowhurst Mead" or "Church Lane" bus stops on A25 Oxted Road. Passengers for this service should either catch the bus from the "Godstone Green" bus stop (near the Needle's Bank public toilets) or can alternatively catch the Metrobus 611 service to Oxted School from the "Crowhurst Mead" and "Church Lane" bus stops on A25 Oxted Road. Passengers should bear in mind that this service operates slightly earlier than the Metrobus 612 service, arriving at the "Crowhurst Mead" bus stop at 07:59, to arrive at Oxted School for 08:14.

Portsmouth Road, Burntcommon

From Saturday 5 October contractors will be carrying out roadway improvements, including the installation of a new roundabout on Portsmouth Road. These works are expected to last until the end of July 2025.

The bus stops on Portsmouth Road, known as "Burnt Common Lane" will be suspended for the duration of the works. There is no safe location for a temporary stop.

Metrobus service 430 and 435

From 29 October 2022, Metrobus services 430 and 435 will not serve Royal Earlswood Park, Prince's Road and Earlsbrook Road due to operational issues until further notice. Bus stops along Woodlands Road will still be served as normal.
