Temporary changes to bus services for road closures

Temporary changes or road closure information that may affect your journey by bus will be listed below when details are available. This information is supplied in good faith and is accurate at the time of publishing. Passengers should be aware that changes in road closure schedules can affect the start and length of works and checks should be made with the bus operator before travelling.

Heath Road, Weybridge

Due to carriageway resurfacing works by Surrey Highways, Heath Road, Weybridge will be closed for approximately 7 nights (20:00 - 06:00 only) from Friday 23 May, excluding weekends. As a result the Falcon 436 service will be on diversion during these times.

Whilst on diversion the Falcon 436 service will be unable to serve bus stops on High Street, Church Street and Heath Road. Passengers for this service should instead use the bus stops on Oatlands Drive (Temple Market), Hanger Hill (Princes Road) or Brooklands Road (Weybridge Railway Station) whilst the works take place.

Gorsewood Road, Woking

Due to carriageway resurfacing works by Surrey Highways, Gorsewood Road, Woking (between the junctions of Sutton Avenue and Hermitage Road) will be closed from Tuesday 27 May for approximately 7 days.

As a result, the Falcon 28 service will be on diversion via Hermitage Road in both directions, and the following bus stops will not be served: Sutton Avenue, Hermitage Estate Shops, Brackenwood Road Limewood Close. Passengers for this service are advised to use the following nearby bus stops on Hermitage Road instead: Queenswood Road, The Surrey and Raglan Road.

Union Road, Farnham

From Monday 19 May, as part of the Farnham town centre improvement works, there will be overnight lane closures on Union Road between the hours of 8.30pm and 6am which means the bus stop on Union Road cannot be served. These overnight works will take place for 5 weeknights from the 19 May, then 4 weeknights from 27 May, and the night of the 2 June.

The nearest bus stop for Stagecoach service 5 is at The Borough.

From Tuesday 3 June the lane closure will be in place 24 hours a day until August, and the bus stop on Union Road will not be served. The nearest alternative bus stops are:

  • Stagecoach 4/5 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 65 - West Street
  • Stagecoach 16/17/18/19 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 46 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 74 - South Street
  • Stagecoach 404 - The Borough

From Sunday 8 June, Stagecoach are making changes to their routes in the Farnham area, and further details and timetables can be found on our forthcoming bus timetable changes web page. Route 17 is being withdrawn and replaced with trips on route 16 and 18, and route 74 is being withdrawn and replaced with trips on route 16 to and from Weydon School. While the bus stop on Union Road is closed, the nearest alternative bus stops are:

  • Stagecoach 4/5 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 65 - West Street
  • Stagecoach 16 towards Aldershot - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 16 towards Weydon School - South Street
  • Stagecoach 18/19 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 46 - The Borough
  • Stagecoach 404 - The Borough

Wheatsheaf Lane, Staines upon Thames

On Monday 19 May, Wheatsheaf Lane in Staines will be closed for one day between the hours of 8am and 6pm.

Reptons service 570 will divert via Penton Road and turn around in St Olaves Close. All stops on Wheatsheaf Lane will not be served.

Kings Ride, Camberley

From Wednesday 14 May, Kings Ride in Camberley has been closed due to emergency water works. Unfortunately, the duration of the works is still to be confirmed.

The Stagecoach Gold service 1 is on diversion via the A30 London Road and Ceasar’s Camp Road which means that 3 bus stops along King’s Ride and 8 bus stops along Upper College Road are not being served.

Hampton Court Road, Hampton Court

On 25 May for one night between the hours of 10pm and 5.30am, Hampton Court Road will be closed for bridge works.

Falcon service 461 will divert via Hampton Court Way towards the Scilly Isles and will then use the Portsmouth Road into Kingston. It will do the same in reverse.

Little Green Lane, Chertsey

Due to urgent works by Thames Water, Little Green Lane, Chertsey will be closed from Friday 23 May for approximately 17 days.

During this time the Falcon 557 service will be on diversion via Green Lane, and will be unable to serve bus stops on Little Green Lane until the works are complete.

Burr Hill Lane, Chobham

From Thursday 15 May Burr Hill Lane in Chobham has been closed due to a void in the carriageway. The duration of the works is currently unknown.

White Bus service 73, and Safeguard service 39A will divert via Chertsey Road Mincing Lane, Red Lion Road and Windsor Road and bus stops on Delta Road, Burr Hill and Bowling Green Road will not be served.

Oxenden Road, Tongham

From Wednesday 30 April Oxenden Road, Tongham will been closed due to emergency works by Thames Water. The closure is expected to remain in place until Friday 16 May.

As a result of this closure the Stagecoach 20 service will be on diversion via Aldershot Road in both directions, serving both the "Walsh Junior School" and "Priors Court" bus stops. Bus stops on Manor Road and Oxenden Road cannot be served whilst this service is on diversion; passengers are advised to use the bus stops on Aldershot Road instead.

High Street, Dorking

Due to carriageway resurfacing works by Surrey Highways, High Street, Dorking will be closed at night for approximately 2 weeks from Wednesday 30 April (working hours 8pm to 6am only). As a result the Transport UK London 465 service will be on diversion whilst the works take place.

Between the above working hours the 465 service will divert to/from Dorking Railway Station via Ashcombe Road, Chalkpit Lane, Station Road, West Street, South Street and Vincent Lane. As a result the following bus stops will not be served during the works: The White Horse, Moores Road, Council Offices, Deepdene Avenue and London Road.

Cottimore Lane, Walton on Thames

From Monday 7 April, Cottimore Lane in Walton on Thames will be closed due to gas works until 19 May. The hours of the closure are 7am to 7pm weekdays, 8am to 5pm on Saturdays and 9am to 1pm on Sundays.

The closure is taking place in phases. For the first phase of the works Falcon Buses services 461 and 564 will be diverting via Carlton Road and The Grove. This is expected to last 4 weeks.

For the second phase of the works, Falcon service 461 will divert via Rodney Road and Sidney Road for journeys heading to and from Kingston. Falcon service 564 will divert via Terrace Road and The Grove for the journeys heading towards the Xcel Centre. This phase is expected to last 2 weeks.

Headley Road, Headley

Due to major highway repair and maintenance works by Surrey Highways, Headley Road, Headley (between the junctions with The Drive and Tilley Lane) will be closed for approximately 12 weeks from 3 March.

As a result of this closure, the Metrobus 21 service will be on diversion via Reigate Road, Mill Way and Leech Lane. The following bus stops in the Headley area will not be served whilst the service is on diversion: Tyrrells Wood, Headley Court, Hurst Lane, The Cock Inn and Broome Close.

High Street, Godstone

Due to a major sinkhole appearing in the carriageway, High Street, Godstone (between the junctions with A25 Oxted Road and Salisbury Road) has been closed from 18 February until further notice. Reports indicate the road will most likely remain closed for several months.

As a result of this closure the Metrobus 400, 409 and 410 services are on diversion and cannot use Godstone High Street. Passengers are advised to catch their bus from the "Godstone Green" bus stop (near the Needle's Bank public toilets) instead. In addition the 410 service will also be unable to serve the "Crowhurst Mead" or "Church Lane" bus stops on the A25 Oxted Road.

With regards to school services, the Metrobus 612 service for Oxted School will also be on diversion, and will be unable to serve the "Crowhurst Mead" or "Church Lane" bus stops on A25 Oxted Road. Passengers for this service should either catch the bus from the "Godstone Green" bus stop (near the Needle's Bank public toilets) or can alternatively catch the Metrobus 611 service to Oxted School from the "Crowhurst Mead" and "Church Lane" bus stops on A25 Oxted Road. Passengers should bear in mind that this service operates slightly earlier than the Metrobus 612 service, arriving at the "Crowhurst Mead" bus stop at 07:59, to arrive at Oxted School for 08:14.

Portsmouth Road, Burntcommon

From Saturday 5 October contractors will be carrying out roadway improvements, including the installation of a new roundabout on Portsmouth Road. These works are expected to last until the end of April 2025.

The bus stops on Portsmouth Road, known as "Burnt Common Lane" will be suspended for the duration of the works. There is no safe location for a temporary stop.

National Highways works on A3 near RHS Gardens Wisley (Bus services 462/463 and 715)

Due to the demolition of Wisley and Cockcrow footbridges which cross the A3, the bus stops on the A3 at Wisley will be permanently closed and the bus stop on the Portsmouth Road at Ockham Roundabout will be temporarily closed from the last bus on Friday 23 February 2024.

From Saturday 5 April 2025, to access RHS Gardens Wisley, passengers can use White Bus service 462/463. This will use the new bridge and new bus stop at RHS Gardens Wisley so visitors have direct access to the Gardens. For timetables please visit our Woking area timetables web page.

A3 Portsmouth road closures

National Highways are carrying out major safety improvement works to the A3 Wisley Interchange (M25 Junction 10). As a result there will be a series of weekend road closures at this location.

This page will be updated as and when new closures are announced.

When closures are in place, the Falcon 715 service will only operate between Kingston and Cobham. The White Bus 462/463 service will not operate between Send Marsh Road and Ockham Roundabout, so bus stops in Ripley will not be served.

We would advise passengers wishing to travel on these services to also check the Falcon and White Bus websites for further updates.

Metrobus service 430 and 435

From 29 October 2022, Metrobus services 430 and 435 will not serve Royal Earlswood Park, Prince's Road and Earlsbrook Road due to operational issues until further notice. Bus stops along Woodlands Road will still be served as normal.
