Temporary changes to bus services for road closures

Temporary changes or road closure information that may affect your journey by bus will be listed below when details are available. This information is supplied in good faith and is accurate at the time of publishing. Passengers should be aware that changes in road closure schedules can affect the start and length of works and checks should be made with the bus operator before travelling.

Surrey Highways surface dressing programme

Surrey Highways will be closing various roads within the county to perform surface dressing works over the coming weeks. In each case the road affected will be closed at some point during a 3 to 5 day period as advertised in advance by Surrey Highways; the works are highly dependent on the road conditions on the day, and so they cannot provide a definitive date.

The works should only take a maximum of 1 to 2 days to complete in each instance, and in many cases will be finished in a matter of hours. Local bus operators will be made aware of these works in advance, but their services should only be on diversion whilst the road is closed. Passengers are advised to check with their local bus operator prior to travelling to see what impact there will be on their service.

Please see below the current list of roads and services to be affected, as well as the start date for the 3 to 5 day period within which the works will take place:

  • Highlands Road, Leatherhead: Wednesday 24 August for 1 week (10am to 4pm)
  • Church Road, Leatherhead: Wednesday 24 August for 1 week (10am to 4pm)
  • Church Street, Leatherhead: Wednesday 24 August for 1 week (10am to 4pm)
  • Binscombe/Binscombe Lane, Farncombe: Thursday 1 September for 5 days (10:30am to 3:30pm)

Please note that should weather conditions not permit the works to take place within the period advertised, they may be booked in for another date later in the programme (due to finish before Thursday 1 September).

Southdown services 422 and 424

From 5 September, services 422 and 424 will divert via Massetts Road and Russells Crescent in both directions.

Buses on diversion in the Meadvale area via Woodhatch Road and Pendleton Road, buses operating via Reigate will serve Somerset Road.

Longbridge Roundabout

There will be a night time closure in place on Longbridge Roundabout from 20 September to 05 October daily between 8pm and 6am.

Temporary bus stops will be located by the junction of Reigate Road and Poverty Cross Road.

Diversions will be in place daily between 8pm and 6am affecting the following bus services:

  • Metrobus service 20 will be diverted via Victoria Road, Vicarage Lane, Mill Lane, Reigate Road, Povey Cross Barrier and Perimeter Road North. Buses will not be able to serve Massetts Road or Brighton Road.
  • Metrobus service 100 will serve Court Lodge as normal and will then divert via Vicarage Lane, Mill Lane, Reigate Road, Povey Cross Barrier and Perimeter Road North. Buses will not be able to serve Victoria Road, Massetts Road, Brighton Road or Povey Cross Road.

Cunliffe Road, Stoneleigh

Due to extensive pavement reconstruction works, Cunliffe Road, Stoneleigh will be closed from Monday 27 June for up to 8 weeks. As a result the Falcon Buses E16 service will be diversion, and will not be able to serve the "Stoneleigh Railway Station" bus stops (H and J) on Stoneleigh Park Road. Buses will be diverting from Newbury Gardens to Cuddington Avenue via Vale Road (and the same in reverse) instead. The next-nearest bus stops for passengers at stops H and J on Stoneleigh Park Road will be stops A and B on Kenilworth Road, on the other side of Stoneleigh Railway Station (next to The Station public house).

Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford

Due to construction works at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, the bus stop known as "H1" (located outside the front of the hospital) will be closed for approximately 6 months from Wednesday 2 February. Passengers will be advised to instead use the stop situated next to it (known as "H2") for all services to and from the hospital.
