Temporary changes to bus services for road closures

Temporary changes or road closure information that may affect your journey by bus will be listed below when details are available. This information is supplied in good faith and is accurate at the time of publishing. Passengers should be aware that changes in road closure schedules can affect the start and length of works and checks should be made with the bus operator before travelling.

East Street, Farnham

Due to major town centre redevelopment works, East Street, Farnham (between the junctions with Dogflud Way and South Street) will be closed from Monday 29 July for approximately 1 week. As a result all bus services travelling westbound (towards Farnham town centre) along East Street will be on diversion.

Stagecoach 16/17/18/19 - Will not be able to serve westbound bus stops on Hale Road, East Street, Dogflud Way or South Street. Passengers should instead use the bus stop at Farnham Railway Station (Stop N).

Stagecoach 65 - Will not be able to serve westbound bus stops on Guildford Road, East Street, Dogflud Way or Union Road. Passengers should instead use the "Downing Street" (Stop C) bus stop on West Street.

Stagecoach 4/5 - Service 4 departures from Farnham will not be able to serve the "South Street" (Stop K) or "Union Road" (Stop L) bus stops, but Service 5 departures from Farnham will be able to as normal.

Stagecoach 46 - The once-a-day journey that departs from Aldershot will divert as per the 16/17/18/19 services listed above.

Walton Street, Walton-on-the-Hill

Due to gas main replacement works by SGN, Walton Street, Walton-on-the-Hill will be closed (between the junctions with Ebbisham Lane and Sandlands Road) from Monday 22 July for approximately 5 weeks. As a result the Metrobus 460 service will be on diversion via New Road and Dorking Road in both directions. The following bus stops in Walton-on-the-Hill will not be served for the duration of these works: The Chequers, Breech Lane and Mere Pond. The bus stop on Howard Close, at the turning circle, will still be served throughout the duration of these works.

Bancroft Road, Reigate

Due to emergency sewer main repair works by Thames Water, Bancroft Road, Reigate (between the junctions of Bancroft Court and Bell Street) will be closed from Monday 22 July for approximately 1 week. As a result the Metrobus 420/460, 422 and 435 services and the Compass 32 service will be on diversion.

The Metrobus 420/460 and 435 services will be on diversion via Chart Lane and Lesbourne Road. The Metrobus 422 service will divert from Castlefield Road via Church Street, Reigate Road, Hatchlands Road, Blackborough Road and picking up normal line of route from Chart Lane. As a result of these diversions the "Bancroft Road", "The Old Bus Garage" and "West Road" bus stops will not be served.

The Compass 32 service will similarly be on diversion via Chart Lane and Lesbourne Road, missing out the "Bancroft Road", "The Old Bus Garage" and "West Road" bus stops towards Redhill. Services towards Guildford will be unaffected.

Wheeler Lane, Witley

From Thursday 25 July, Wheeler Lane in Witley will be closed for telecom works for 7 days.

Stagecoach 70 will not be able to serve the following 9 bus stops on Gasden Lane, Wheeler Lane and Petworth Road.

On Gasden Lane and Wheeler Lane the bus will not service the stops at Haslemere Road, Cramhurst Lane and The Star in both directions.

On Petworth Road, the bus will not be able to serve the stop at SCC Depot northbound, and Rodborough School in both directions.

This service will divert at the junction of Gasden Lane via Haslemere Road to the Cherry Tree Roundabout.

St Jude's Road, Englefield Green

From 07:00 Monday 22 July, the northbound carriageway of St Jude's Road in Englefield Green will be closed for up to 2 months due to work being carried out by Cadent Gas. The closure is northbound from Bagshot Road to the roundabout at Bond Street.

First Bus service 8 and White Bus service 441 will divert from Egham Hill roundabout via Tite Hill and Middle Hill to St Jude's Road.

The following bus stops on Egham Hill from Egham Hill roundabout and St Jude's Road to Middle Hill will not be served:

Middle Hill, Chestnut Drive, Royal Holloway College, St Jude's Cemetery, The Holly Tree, St Jude's Close, Barley Mow Road.

Wych Hill Lane and Wych Hill, Woking

From Monday 22 July for up to six weeks, Wych Hill Lane and Wych Hill will be closed in two phases due to works by Southern Gas Network.

Phase 1: From Monday 22 July for approximately 4 weeks, Wych Hill Lane from A320 Egley Road to York Road will be closed.

Stagecoach service 35 will be using the A320 Guildford Road in both directions and will not be able to serve stops named West Hill, Wych Hill, Twin Bridge, United Reform Church or Consort Court in both directions.

Safeguard and White Bus service 81 will be diverting via Midhope Road in both directions. and will not serve stops named West Hill in both directions. Drivers will adopt Hail & Ride along Mount Herman as normal.

Phase 2: Once the above works are complete Wych Hill be closed and the Falcon service 28 will be on diversion. Details will be confirmed closer once finalised.

Smallfield Road, Smallfield

Due to major gas main replacement works by SGN, Smallfield Road, Smallfield will be closed from Monday 15 July for approximately 6 weeks. As a result of this closure the Metrobus 324, 422, 424 and 624 services will be on diversion and will be unable to serve any bus stops between Smallfield Road (Wheatfield Road roundabout) and Copthorne Bank. Buses will be on diversion between these two points via Balcome Road and Antlands Lane. Do note that the Metrobus 20 service will be unaffected and will operate as normal.

During this closure Metrobus will be operating a free shuttle bus service, operating from Smallfield to Copthorne and Horley and back again. This has been timed to allow residents of Smallfield to connect with their regular bus services in Copthorne and Horley.

UPDATE: The closure of Smallfield Road, Smallfield will be temporarily lifted from Monday 29 July for one week. During this time bus services will return to normal and the free shuttle bus service will not operate. From Monday 5 August the road will be closed once again (for approximately 4 weeks) and the above diversion and shuttle bus service will resume, with works expected to be completed by Monday 2 September.

National Highways works on A3 near RHS Gardens Wisley (Bus services 462/463 and 715)

Due to the demolition of Wisley and Cockcrow footbridges which cross the A3, the bus stops on the A3 at Wisley will be permanently closed and the bus stop on the Portsmouth Road at Ockham Roundabout will be temporarily closed from the last bus on Friday 23 February 2024.

Until the new Wisley bridge is in place there will be no safe walking route to RHS Wisley or across the A3 from the A3 or Portsmouth Road bus stops.

To facilitate transport to RHS Gardens Wisley visitors can use the Wisley Gardens shuttle bus, operated by Stagecoach which can be picked up from Ripley Post Office, where you can connect with local bus services 462/463 and 715.

A3 Painshill, northbound (towards Esher) slip road closure

As National Highways works are continuing works on A245 Byfleet Road they have made arrangements for the A3 northbound off slip road at Painshill to be closed for a period of up to 10 weeks, initially to secure an improved eastbound traffic flow along the A245. The closure will come into effect from 17th May.

While this closure is in place Falcon service 715 will operate from Ockham Roundabout via Ockham Lane into Cobham. The bus stop at Cobham Fire Station (for journeys towards Cobham) cannot be served while the A3 slip road closure is in place.

A3 Portsmouth road closures

National Highways are carrying out major safety improvement works to the A3 Wisley Interchange (M25 Junction 10). As a result there will be a series of weekend road closures at this location.

This page will be updated as and when new closures are announced.

When closures are in place, the Falcon 715 service will only operate between Kingston and Cobham. The White Bus 462/463 service will not operate between Send Marsh Road and Ockham Roundabout, so bus stops in Ripley will not be served.

We would advise passengers wishing to travel on these services to also check the Falcon and White Bus websites for further updates.

Ash Railway Station

Due to local development works the southbound bus stop at Ash Railway Station is closed until further notice. The nearest alternative bus stops are those named "Chester Road" and "St. Peter's Church", located approximately 200m along the road in either direction from the suspended bus stop. The works are anticipated to finish in October 2024.

Stagecoach service 23/123/113

Due to road closures in Bordon on Lindford Road and on Caker Lane/Green Street in East Worldham, Stagecoach have been diverting services 23/123/113.

From 1 April 2024, Lindford Road has reopened, and service 23 has returned to normal.

From 5 May 2024, to coincide with the reopening of the B3004 between Bordon and Alton for college exam season, services 113 and 123 will revert to their pre-roadworks route and timetable and they will once again serve Kingsley and East Worldham, no longer diverting via Greatham and Selborne.

It is likely that after the the end of term the works will start again and in September 2024 the services will be back on diversion.

The works are expected to end in October 2024.

Cromwell Road Bus Station, Kingston-upon-Thames

Due to major redevelopment works by Transport for London (TfL), the bus station on Cromwell Road, Kingston-upon-Thames will be closed from Monday 28 August for approximately 1 year. During the closure many services will be affected, and we would advise all passengers to check the TfL website for more information.

The Surrey services affected are the 406, 418, 458, 461, 465, 513, 514, 515 and 715.

For the 406, 418 and 465 services the last stop coming into Kingston will be stop E3 on Eden Street (near to Santander), and the first stop when leaving Kingston will be stop D1 for the 465 and D2 for the 406 and 418 on Eden Street (near to McDonalds).

For the 458, 514, 515 and 715 services the last stop coming into Kingston will be stop DR on Eden Street (near the junction with Brook Street), and the first stop when leaving Kingston will be stop D1 on Eden Street (near to McDonalds).

The last stop for the 461 coming into Kingston will be a temporary stop to the east of Cromwell Road Bus Station, and the first stop out of Kingston will be Stop Q on Wood Street.

The last stop for the 513 coming into Kingston will be stop E3 on Eden Street (near Santander), and the first stop out of Kingston will be stop D1 on Eden Street (near to McDonalds).

Metrobus service 430 and 435

From 29 October 2022, Metrobus services 430 and 435 will not serve Royal Earlswood Park, Prince's Road and Earlsbrook Road due to operational issues until further notice. Bus stops along Woodlands Road will still be served as normal.
