Temporary changes to bus services for road closures

Temporary changes or road closure information that may affect your journey by bus will be listed below when details are available. This information is supplied in good faith and is accurate at the time of publishing. Passengers should be aware that changes in road closure schedules can affect the start and length of works and checks should be made with the bus operator before travelling.

Milford, Station Lane and Tuesley Lane

Due to road works and the closure of Tuesley Lane to traffic , Stagecoach service 523 will be unable to operate on 13 and 15 October over the section of route between Milford village and Milford Hospital/Leithfield Park. Normal times will apply over the remainder of the route.

Cranleigh, Elmbridge

Road Closure 12 - 15 October, due to emergency works by Thames Water, Compass Bus services 24 and 42 will be unable to serve Elmbridge Road, Elmbridge Village and West Cranleigh for up to four days commencing Monday 12 October. If the works finish earlier, the road will re-open.

Due to other road works and road closures in the area, Compass Bus service 24 will also be unable to serve Birtley, Grafham, Palmers Cross and Smithbrook Kilns and will operate direct from Bramley to Cranleigh on an alternative route. It will serve the stop in the Wonersh direction in Station Road, Bramley, near the BP Garage.

Compass Bus service 42 will take an alternative route between Alfold Crossways and Cranleigh. The departure point in Cranleigh for journeys towards Alfold, Dunsfold and Godalming will remain at Stocklund Square.

Compass Bus apologises for any inconvenience due to these circumstances beyond their control.


Brighton Road/Bonehurst Road, Salfords

Diversions to Metrobus routes 100, 400, 460 due to Brighton Road/Bonehurst Road, Salfords – night time closure 8.00pm – 5.00am Monday to Fridays. The last day of works expected to be Friday 2nd October.

  • Service 100 is diverted from Horley via A217, Woodhatch Rd and Maple Rd missing out all bus stops between Maple Road and Court Lodge Road on the A23, as well as those on Horley Row and Lee Street.
  • Service 400 and 460 will miss out all stops between Maple Road A23 and the Chequers Roundabout in Horley.
  • All buses continue to serve East Surrey Hospital

Station Road, Leatherhead (Towards Epsom/Guildford)

Due to bridge repair and maintenance works by Network Rail, Station Road, Leatherhead will be closed between the junctions with Station Approach and Waterway Road from 00:01 on Saturday 12 September until 23:59 on Sunday 13 September. As a result the London United 465 and Arriva 479 services will be on diversion towards Kingston/Epsom.

On the stated days the following bus stops will not be served (towards Kingston/Epsom):

The Ridgeway, Hawks Hill, Leisure Centre, Bridge Street (Stop Q), North Street (Stop R), Railway Station (Stop T), Park Rise (Stop N) and All Saints Church.

The 465 and 479 services will enter Leatherhead via the B2450 Dorking Road, serving bus stops on The Crescent and Epsom Road (towards Kingston/Epsom only). The 465 will pick up normal line of route towards Kingston from the All Saints School bus stop. The 479 will pick up normal line of route towards Epsom from the Barnett Close bus stop.

A217 Reigate Hill (Southbound only)

From Monday 7 September 2020, Reigate Hill will be closed to south bound traffic for up to 14 weeks.

Affected bus services:

  • Metrobus Routes 420/460 & 820 (School bus)
  • London General 669 (School bus)

Buses will be on diversion operating via Pebble Hill and A25, the following bus stops towards Reigate will not be served;

  • Babylon Lane
  • Gatton Bottom
  • Reigate Manor Hotel
  • Brokes Road
  • Priory Gate Mews
  • Reigate Railway Station (stop B)

Route 420 will continue to serve Lower Kingswood as normal.

Route 460 will not be able to serve Lower Kingswood towards Reigate, with the exception of a couple of morning journeys.

Delays are expected due to the length of the diversion needed.

Buses between Reigate and Lower Kingswood are not affected.

Bookham Railway Station: Temporary Bus Stop

Due to the development of Bookham Railway Station building and carpark the station bus stop is currently suspended.
A temporary bus stop is located on Church Road opposite the exit from the station car park close to the telephone box.

The bus operator Arriva are aware and have instructed their drivers of the route 479 (Arriva) to serve this location in both directions.

Goldsworth Road, Woking

Due to major ongoing works on Forge End and Church Street, buses will not be able to serve any bus stops on Goldsworth Road, Woking from Monday 3 August for approximately 6 weeks. Services will instead divert around the works via Parley Drive and Lockfield Drive. The Stagecoach 39A, 39B and 39C services, and the Falcon 456 service, will continue to serve the bus stop at Morrisons but not those located on Goldsworth Road.

Epsom Town Centre

Until further notice bus service 460/480 (Metrobus) will not serve Ashley Road between Treadwell Road and Ashley Avenue (Northbound only) due to the following suspended bus stops:

  • Treadwell Road (Northbound),
  • Ashley Road (Northbound),
  • St Martins School (Northbound)
  • Clock Tower (stop C)
