Temporary Speed Limit Order 2023

On 05 July 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) and 14(7) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be;

a) to prohibit vehicles from driving or proceeding at a speed greater than 30 MPH in that length of Portsmouth Road (A307) Esher as extends from its junction with (D6892) Hawkshill Way to its junction with (D6890) West End Lane and;

b) Suspend "The London Traffic (40 MPH Speed Limit) (No.1) Regulations 1959" and/or any Speed Limit Order made or having effect as if made under Sections 82, 83 and/or 84 of the Act insofar as affects that length of Portsmouth Road (A307) Esher.

This Temporary Traffic Order is required to allow new gas connection works and/or any other associated works to be carried out by, or on behalf of SGN. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 8 weeks, between the hours of 8am and 5pm, within the 12 month period of operation of this Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 17 July 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary speed limit which is anticipated to be in force 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. The speed limit imposed by this Order shall not apply to vehicles used by special forces in accordance with the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 or in respect of anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or in accordance with any restriction or requirement indicated by traffic signs placed on the road by or on behalf of the Police.
