Lower Road (D265) Bookham
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 26 July 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of;
a) Lower Road (D265) Bookham as extends from its junction with (D2596) Kennel Lane to its junction with (D2597) Keswick Road.
Alternative Route: Lower Road, The Lorne, Hawkwood Rise, (A246) Guildford Road, (A246) Leatherhead Road, (A246) Guildford Road, The Ridgeway, and Lower Road and;
b) that length of Lower Road (D265) Bookham as extends from its junction with (D2557) East Street to its junction with (D2884) Pine Walk.
Alternative Route: East Street, (A246) Leatherhead Road, Eastwick Road, and Lower Road. This Order is required to facilitate mains water connection works for or on behalf of SES Water. These works are anticipated to commence on 08 August 2023 for a period of 7 weeks, between the hours of 8am and 5pm.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
Part a) Access for residents, pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. All other traffic, including the emergency services will be required to use the signed diversion route.
Part b) It will not be possible to maintain access through the closure for emergency services, residents and businesses and all vehicular traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route.
The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
