Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 14 June 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Horsham Road (A24) Capel as extends from its junction at the roundabout with (C52) Rusper Road and (C52) Wolves Hill to its junction with the county boundary line between Surrey County Council and West Sussex County Council.

Alternative Route: (A24) Horsham Road, (A24) Dorking Road, (A24) Horsham Northern Bypass, (A281) Broadbridge Heath Bypass, (A281) Guildford Road, (A29) Bognor Road, (A29) Stane Street, (A29) Beare Green, (A29) Ockley Road, and (A24) Capel Bypass.

This Order is required to facilitate highways improvement and/or maintenance works by or on behalf of Surrey County Council. These works are anticipated to be completed as soon as possible within 2 weeks of this 18 month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 03 July 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access to premises within the affected length of road including access by emergency vehicles to these properties will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route.

All other traffic will be required to use the signed diversion route. During certain phases of the works, vehicular access to premises may be restricted, when this is the case such restriction of access will apply for no more than eight hours within any 24-hour period.
