Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 23 August 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Holly Lane (B2219) Banstead as extends from its south-eastern junction with (D1088) Holly Lane East to its junction with (X9078) Elizabeth Drive.

Alternative Routes – Holly Lane; Garratts Lane; A217 Brighton Road (southbound); Bonsor Drive; Waterhouse Lane; Outwood Lane; Lower Park Road; and Holly Lane or this same route in reverse.

The Order is required to allow footway widening and/or footway improvement works to be carried out by, or on behalf of Surrey County Council within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to be carried out as soon as possible between the hours of 8am and 6pm within the 18-month period of operation of the Temporary Order that commences on 30 August 2023. It is anticipated that the works will take approximately 4 to 5 weeks to complete once the works start.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed, and the temporary closure will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Any vehicle found to be obstructing the highway during these works will be removed to outside the limits of the works after all reasonable methods have been undertaken to identify and contact the vehicle's owner.

Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Vehicular access for residents, businesses and the emergency services will be maintained only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route. No Sole Access will be affected by these works.
