Gomshall Lane (C46) and Middle Street (C46) Shere
Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023
On 20 September 2023 Surrey County Council made the above mentioned Temporary Traffic Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of;
(a) Gomshall Lane as extends from its junction with (X7118) Wellers Court to its junction with (C46) Upper Street; and
(b) the southbound carriageway of Middle Street from its junction with (C46) Gomshall Lane to its junction with (D226) The Square.
Alternative Route: (1): Gomshall Lane, (A25) Shere Road, and Upper Street; and (2) Upper Street, (A25) Shere Road, (A248) Sherbourne, New Road, Park Road, Shere Heath Road, Sandy Lane, and Shere Lane.
This Order is required to facilitate new fibre optic connection works for, or on behalf of Clancy Group. These works are anticipated to be carried out over 3 days between the hours of 9am and 6pm within 12-month period of operation of this Order which will commence on 02 October 2023.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times. Access for emergency services will be maintained, only when safe to do so, if necessary, via the diversion route. All other vehicular traffic including residents and businesses will be required to use the signed diversion route. The Council are satisfied that, in accordance with Section 3(2)(a) and 3(2)(b) of the Act, vehicular access to and from premises within the length of road above, or accessible only therefrom, may be restricted in order to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the road and/or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
