Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2023

On 17 May 2023 Surrey County Council made the above-mentioned Temporary Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from entering or proceeding in that length of Burrows Lane (D227) Gomshall that is crossed by the level crossing known as "Burrows Lane Level Crossing" and for a distance of 40 metres on either side.

Alternative Route – Burrows Lane, Hook Lane, Sandy Lane, Little London, Park Road, New Road, (A248) Sherbourne, (A25) Shere Road, and Queen Street or this route in reverse.

The Order is required to facilitate North Downs Line Commissioning works to be carried out by, or on behalf of Amberton within the length of road described in this notice. These works are anticipated to take place on 10 June 2023 for a period of 3 nights between the hours of 11pm and 6am and on 10 November 2023 for a period of 5 nights between the hours of 10pm and 1pm within the 18 month period of operation of this Temporary Traffic Order which commences on 10 June 2023.

Advanced warning signs will be displayed and the temporary closure, which is anticipated to be in force 24 per day, will only operate when the relevant traffic signs are displayed. Access to premises within the affected length of roads, including access by emergency service vehicles to these properties, will be maintained at all times. Access for pedestrians along with dismounted cyclists will be via operatives on site.
