Looking for a connection to help make something happen in your community?

Our vision is for the public, private and community sectors in Surrey to work together and share resources to improve the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of Surrey's residents and local communities.

Social Value Marketplace is a tool that can help make connections between organisations, who are waiting to offer all sorts of help, and individuals. Whether that's meeting spaces, skills and knowledge sharing, equipment or volunteers to help with gardening, painting or decorating.

Here are some recent examples of Social Value being delivered, and the benefits achieved through the Social Value Marketplace.

Active Prospects, a Reigate-based disability and mental health support charity, posted a request on the Social Value Marketplace for some chairs for their office. The Council's Strategic Lead for Partnerships sent the request through the Land and Property team to make this happen. Whilst there were no new chairs available, we were able to refurbish and provide ergonomically appropriate chairs for Active Prospects which were hugely needed and appreciated.

Surrey Community Action, another charity based in Guildford, posted a request on the Surrey Social Value Marketplace for a partner to help with sprucing up their hub with a lick of paint. The Social Value Programme Team got in contact with the council's Facilities Management suppliers, Corriengda Ltd. who were quick to offer to undertake the works. Surrey Community Action said, "The painting has made a real difference to service users, and everyone in the building is extremely happy with the outcome."

These examples of collaboration and partnership working show how Social Value Marketplace can benefit the community in so many ways.
