This week Surrey's Cabinet Members approved the draft 2023/2024 council budget, which outlines how the council spends over £1bn on delivering vital services.
Increased demand for services, as well as increasing costs and inflation, means there is a huge challenge to set a balanced budget for next year. After finding almost £70m of efficiency savings, there is still a gap (between what we need to spend and how much money we have) of £14.4m.
There are some tricky options to close that gap and deliver a balanced budget – which we have a responsibility to do.
Those options, as well as further information on how we spend the budget on different services, are outlined on our budget webpage.
There is also a short survey open for you to give us your views about the budget and the options available to us, which is open until 19 December.
Please take a look and let us know what you think.
