Free trueCall devices
Buckinghamshire and Surrey Trading Standards are cracking down on telephone scammers. They are encouraging people with vulnerable family or friends to support them in applying for a free trueCall device.
This is a small piece of equipment that plugs into your landline phone socket and automatically blocks unwanted calls. Instead of you trying to work out what's genuine and what's not, it lets your friends and family straight through to talk to you but blocks everyone else.
Trading Standards estimate that over 10,800 scam or nuisance calls were blocked by devices installed in April 2024 to March 2025. This has saved residents in Buckinghamshire and Surrey a total of £643,410.

Here are just two of the many feedback messages we have received about the devices:
Mrs O of Guildford - "Since we have had the trueCall blocker device we have not had one scam call. Just wish we had known about the device sooner . Very happy with it"
Mr N on behalf of Mrs N of Woking - "It means my elderly mother is no longer suffering fake or scam calls so can actually use her phone. Great source of comfort for her children as she is in her nineties and at one point we were unable to contact her due to the excessive volume of unwarranted calls. Thank you."
