We want to support you to be happy and engaged in the community where you live. There are many ways you can access leisure opportunities and different projects in your local community no matter where you live. Your personal adviser (PA) from the Care Leavers' Service (CLS) can support you to access support and help you find social and religious groups, events and activities you may be interested in joining.

Gyms and leisure offers

Leisure Offer for young people living in Surrey

If you are a care leaver (or looked after child) in Surrey it gives you some brilliant opportunities including:

  • Free gym membership
  • Free swimming access at all times
  • 50% concession on classes and bookable activities

Also, Surrey foster carers and their birth children (under 18 years old) can get a 50% leisure discount. To find out more speak with your PA or email leisure.offer@surreycc.gov.uk.

Gym Pass scheme for young people living outside of Surrey

Surrey also has a scheme to support care leavers living outside of Surrey. This offer does not provide gym membership however, care leavers can request up to three-day passes per month to access over 1,500 gyms and spas across the country.

  • Speak to your PA to request a pass code
  • Put your unique code into Free Day Passes with Hussle website and select a gym/spa of your choice
  • You will then receive a QR code / pass to access your selected gym/spa

50% discount on PureGym membership

Surrey are part of the national Care Leaver Covenant (CLC) campaign, and the CLC have partnered with Pure Gym to create an offer exclusively for care leavers living in England to encourage & promote health and fitness for care leavers. PureGym are presenting a generous 50% discount on gym memberships for care leavers.

Surrey has a free leisure scheme for care leavers living in and out of county therefore, this 50% discount offer will not be funded by the service.

Celebration Fund

The Celebration Fund scheme is funded by county councillors to recognise and reward care leavers for their achievements. Awards (of up to £300) may support you to take part in a hobby or activity, purchase equipment or training to help promote your independence or achieve a goal.

Surrey Bike Scheme

Surrey County Council provides care leavers with a contribution towards a bike, helmet and lock. If you do not own a bike and you would like a bike to keep fit and save money on travel, then speak to your PA about making an application to the bicycle scheme! Ask your PA to contact celebration.fund@surreycc.gov.uk to get more information.

Surrey Boxing Scheme

Are you aged between 12 to 25 years and interested in boxing? Boxing England are funding free Boxing membership at affiliated clubs across the country. Speak to your PA who can email leisure.offer@surreycc.gov.uk to make an application on your behalf.

  • Free three months membership at a local boxing club in England
  • A further three-months membership and funding to purchase some boxing kit

Surrey Arts

Surrey Arts aims to increase people's interest and participation in music, singing and performing arts. There are a range of arts opportunities for you to enjoy, such as music lessons and workshops. Visit the Surrey Arts webpage for more information.

Driving lessons

The road to driving just got a little bit easier. Care leavers access support supported to fund costs associated with learning to drive a car or motorbike. This support is available for care-experienced children and young people from the age of 17.

Other information

The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse charity is community project that offers support for those who need it. There are four Lighthouse communities based in Woking, Barnsbury, Aldershot and Guildford. The Lighthouse has many different projects that encourage new friendships, support your mental health and focus on improving wellbeing.

Surrey Museums Partnership

Did you know that in Surrey, there are over 40 museums, galleries and heritage sites? There are lots of world-famous royals, artists, writers, musicians, actors, pioneers and politicians who all come from Surrey, as well as world-class arts, crafts, industries and sports.

The Surrey Museums Partnership has some fantastic information about the history of Surrey and the different workshop, sessions, events and exhibitions available. This is a great way to learn more about Surrey and explore the history of the county.
