What is CYA (CAMHS Youth Advisors)?

Your emotional wellbeing and mental health

Welcome to our pages all about emotional wellbeing and mental health: we're glad you're here.

If you want to make a difference to emotional wellbeing and mental health services, or if you want to know what services might be able to help you, we might be just the place for you!

Wellbeing is so important as it's about your happiness and health. In the dictionary, it's described as "the state of being comfortable, happy or healthy".

Keeping well can include lots of things and can sometimes be overwhelming if you don't know where to start.

What does CYA stand for?

So, you might be asking yourself 'what is CYA'?

Well, CYA stands for CAMHS Youth Advisors. They are a group of young people who are passionate about making emotional wellbeing and mental health services in Surrey better.

The services are for children and young people, so they know best what's right for them and others! CYA members sometimes come together to share their views and give feedback on things that matter to them. It's a great place to meet new friends, feel like you have a say and lots more!

There are lots of things you can get involved in, not only our participation group, but other projects too! This might be training professionals or interviewing staff who want to work with children and young people! We train young people to give them the skills they need to be able to do this so that they are confident in what they do!

Sounds like fun, doesn't it? If you want to get involved, we'd love to welcome you! For more information or to speak to someone who leads a group near you, contact us! You can contact us by email at user.voice@surreycc.gov.uk or on our social media channels
