Surrey Adult Learning out and about in the community during the summer

On Saturday 2 June 2018, Guildford Borough Council celebrated in party style with Guildford in Bloom and Picnic in the Castle Grounds. The event was a tremendous success, providing a fantastic, free, family fun day with music and entertainment from the bandstand showcasing Guildford Summer Festival and Guildford Fringe. Surrey Adult Learning (SAL) was present at the event, showcasing our courses with free taster sessions in both Calligraphy and Watercolour Painting, thanks to tutor involvement.

Next stop: Molesey Carnival, which took place on Saturday 9 June 2018. There was perfect weather and a wonderful atmosphere at the Carnival. There was lots of interest from prospective learners who live locally to the Molesey Centre and hadn't realised the variety of courses offered by Surrey Adult Learning. It was also lovely to chat to current learners, with wonderful feedback on the centre and its position within the community.

Our SAL Assistant Curriculum Manager Bob Meecham painted at the stall throughout the afternoon; Language tutors Maria Maccalli and Patricia Sammut helped promote language courses; and Christine Johnson – Cookery Tutor – handed out Henrietta Parker Trust (HPT) leaflets to passers-by, promoting £5 deals on certain courses, subject to terms and conditions. The day was a great success.
