What we are doing
We are carrying out reconstruction and carriageway resurfacing works on Capel bypass, Capel during August and September 2023.
Capel Bypass, Capel will be closed Northbound only from the 7 August for approximately 3 weeks.
Capel Bypass, Capel will be closed Southbound only from the 11 September for approximately 3 weeks.
The extents of the roadworks are from Clarks Green roundabout to Beare Green roundabout.
What is the diversion route?
A signed diversion route via Ockley and Horsham will be in place during this time. For residents of Capel both Clark's Green roundabout and Beare Green roundabout will remain accessible but there may be some delays.
Nightworks
Works will take place at night, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8pm and 6am.
Working overnight is necessary on traffic sensitive roads to reduce disruption during peak times. It also enables longer uninterrupted working before the closure has to be lifted for daytime traffic, and results in a shorter period of disruption. There will be some noise, but we will try to carry out the bulk of the noisiest works before midnight.
This work is weather dependant and sometimes our work is delayed by bad weather. We will keep you updated on any changes via the advance warning signs displayed in the road and on our roadworks map.
